Whatcha supposed to do when one team shoots 60% from three point land

Well, you are supposed to get in their line of sight and contest the shot. This Auburn team is no Villanova from last year. We gave Auburn way too many easy shots. That is a sign of poor preparation and of course without that the execution will always be lacking.

People were saying the same thing with Shula. Bite the bullet and bring Prohm home.

Bull! Teams don't hit 60% in shoot-arounds. We took plenty of similarly contested shots last night and clanked. One dude for Auburn was throwing up 28 footers. A team has to be able to count on another team missing some open looks. It was ridiculous. They couldn't miss.

Even an Auburn fan said that they were surprised at how open their shots were. We are notorious for allowing 3 point shots. Last night it cost us.

If we would have played decent perimeter defense, their percentage would have dropped dramatically

They gave Gottfried two and half years without a tournament and Grant three.

I doubt they'll only give Avery 1.

I really think his buyout is too high, and the results aren't bad enough.

We would have to lose the remaining games for it to be a remote possibility, in my opinion

I too doubt that Avery gets fired. However, I would not be at all surprised if Avery’s agent weren’t circulating his name among NBA owners looking for a coach or a GM. He isn’t cut out to be a college coach and I think he realizes that. We have to hope he gets another job offer and takes it.

To the Avery apologists, this should be rather telling: after Grant had some success, we bumped his salary and buyout because his name was coming up for the Florida job specifically and there were rumors of other offers. Have you heard of Avery getting inquiries for other college jobs? I didn’t think so. If he’s so great, why isn’t any bigger basketball schools putting out feelers to gauge his interest?

This. We lead the conference in top 25 wins since the start of 2017, three in January. I know it's bad right now and I hate the inexcusable losses but there's no way he's getting fired. Only hope is an NBA team snags him.

He was basically out of the NBA when we took him. The idea that someone would want him as a GM is laughable.

No, honestly, I don't think it is. He seems pretty suited for a GM job. He's pretty decent at spotting talent, he just can't develop it well. He's a good salesman, he sells the program well and he's a good ambassador. I think he's got front office written all over him and IF the rumors are true that the Pelicans are looking at him, he could go home. Perfect scenario for all parties. We get rid of Avery without the messiness of a firing and Avery gets a job back in Louisiana that suits him better.

A word I’ve heard is that his wife doesn’t really like college town life and that he may move in voluntarily after this year.

They bought one of those house lots up in North River Yacht Club right on Lake Tuscaloosa.

They live in another location.

I think this is his last year, not just since Jr is a senior but I bet he goes to NOLA.

I've heard Cavs several times from multiple "sources."

Who knows.

Auburn is 5th in the country in made threes per game. Very good three point shooting team, even better at home.

Next hire needs to be a homerun. No more uncertainities. Give me a coach from the midwest or northeast (born and raised).
