I’d like to know the answer. I was watching on mobile and turned it off as soon as they made that call. Legit?

I didn't think he traveled...it was a very ticky-tack call...but it shouldn't have come down to that. If we hit 50% of our free throws in the second half, we win that game...pretty bad when you're consistently throwing up bricks from the free throw line...

Whether Avery works out or not is yet to be determined...but I don't see how you can blame him for the pathetic free throw shooting and a bad traveling call...

No, he doesn't get the blame today, but when Bama will play lackluster against ole Miss and lose next week, he will get the blame

Well he is the HC? We are ranked 205th in the nation in FT %

2017 = 307
2016 = 320
2015 = 332

Progress, I guess?

Did you ever see Shaq at the free throw line? Was that Phil Jackson's fault or Pat Riley's?

When you start pointing fingers at the HC for atrocious FT shooting, you’re being just a tad unrealistic. There’s many complaints to be had with Avery. So many that you can talk about. Blaming him for tonight’s FT shooting shouldn’t be one of them.

Bad FT shooting seems to be notoriously contagious. Sexton was famous for his FT shooting in HS and even a kid with his confidence level was shooting bricks at the line for the first half of the season. He’s now in the NBA knocking them down with ease (like 87%). I honestly wonder how long it takes a team known to be terrible at the line to become an average FT shooting team.

We got robbed today. I've never seen such a ticket tack call to decide a game. We need to stick with Avery he's building a good team and recruiting at a high level. Sexton was probably the best player we've had in my lifetime.

This. Bumping the thread after being a blown call away from a shot to win an away game against a team who has been the best in the NCAA the past couple of weeks seems ridiculous. Pocket your bumps for the inevitable let down against Ole Miss. This is Avery’s pattern.

100000% support. Worst week in Bama athletics.

hey, this week started well. W Basketball beat Tennessee Lady Vols and Bama Gymnastics beat the Gym Dawgs in Athens, that's two rivalry wins in back to back days.

And we needed a last second layup in the SECT just to make the NCAA tournament.

Then it shouldn't matter what game I bump this thread because he needs to get fired regardless. One close loss to a good team shouldn't change that.

Avery's teams tend to accept the challenge of playing the better teams but tend to play downward against those that are perhaps less than them. I am wishing them all success but I have to say that Grant sucked the life out of me as a Bama BB fan. That was the frustration shite on the planet then again I am just old. A winning season and close to getting an invite to The Dance is pretty good and then on to the NIT for a win and then a loss and then spring drills.

We don't celebrate moral victories at Alabama. The game today was close, closer than it should have been. I'm proud of the way the kids played and almost won. That doesn't erase the fact that it was an L or the fact that we lost to a really bad A&M team at home last Saturday, a game they had no business even being in, much less winning. I know, shite happens, but it always seems to happen to Avery's teams vs overmatched opponents. Like Northeastern earlier this year. Good coaches of good basketball teams don't have those bad losses regularly, much less multiple ones every year. He's not a good coach, period. He recruits well, he sells the program, and he motivates well, but when it comes down to coaching the fundamentals and having our kids prepared, he's an abject failure. Look at Ole Miss, they have half the talent we have, but they are playing fundamentally sound basketball and as a result, they are ranked and have a better record than Bama and will probably make the tourney. Watch them when we play them this week. We will get schooled.

Foul shots. The number one example of poor coaching is a team that will not shoot foul shots.
A player can make foul shots if he shoots them enough in practice.
Don’t shoot 100, shoot 1000.
With a coach watching.

I'm not saying we're all that well coached in other areas but I'd put FT shooting dead last on a list of things to judge a coach on.

Just like Avery isn't the first one I'd credit for Donta Hall having had about the most dramatic improvement in foul shooting I've ever seen.
