If we had changed QBs with Ga, they win. Its as simple as that. Their QB had receivers open for TDs and just flat missed. We definately have better receivers, but there is a huge difference in QBs. Saban said yesterday, Jones has had two miss reads this year. Two. He played great under hard pressure from Ga, tooks some licks and kept on ticking.

The 1st coach hit the nail on the head. Sark is worth the money. I know the man has had a trouble past but “the process” has took Sark to his full potential.

There is a huge difference in QBs and WRs.

Some good breakdowns in there but its not hard to see and we actually caught UGA by surprise with the zone defenses we played.Especially on some 3rd and 5 or more downs.

This defense is a few moves or more zone play away from improving a lot more.

1.We need to get Moses off the field on all nickle packages with either moving Hellams close to the line
as a hybrid SS/LB which should be better than moses pass coverage wise.

2.I would consider taking both of them off(8,32) in nickel with replacements(Kehoe and hellams)
on playing inside and the other the hybrid S/lb. As Its obvious Hellams will hit but he cant cover WR's.

3.Replace 94 with 58, 48, 47 and keep those 3 rotating inside with 92 and 18 outside.
But always 92,58,18 in on all dime passing downs.

4.Hopefully we get Williams(db) back soon and that should allow better match ups along with him Jobe and
Moore based on opponents WR core.

Why we may not improve

1.Getting Saban to bend a little more on the process wait your turn with wright, pulling Moses and 94.
UGA specifically targeted us down the middle which is 94,Moses, Helleams and wright.

Saban already pulled wright and went with hellems starting. So will he also move hellems to hybrid S/lb for moses.
I wont knock Hellams for effort and he could have been trying to cover for wright
on that goal line TE release. because wright who can't seem to remember were he suppose to match up way to often.
I will say Saban called that time out when the D really needed it.So Nick may make these moves !

side note
I saw Williams up close(Hutch)as he played against a co-workers son(Coffeyville wr).
He's much more fluid than Hellems and can play on or off wr's.

Also saw Eddie Smith play in high school and I would like to know if anybody has word on his progress.
Because he like Williams moves more fluid than Hellems and wright as for coverage.
But let me again say Hellems hustles and hits and my view is based on more his coverage ability.I think he would be greatas a hybrid S/lb assigned to cover TE or RB's in the flat on dime. But williams would be ideal when healthy.

I don’t have many criticisms of Saban as he is the GOAT, but I agree with you on his substitution patterns... I guess it’s hard for me to judge bc I don’t see practice everyday but I would love to see more PT(especially when game is in hand) for some of our younger guys and players like Kaho. He should be able to cover TEs and RBs with his speed .... has he played ST this year? I don’t pay much attention who is out there sometimes but last year he was a force on punt block schemes

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. If they want to play Alabama with a walk-on QB then more power to them. How about if we give them Waddle and Devante too?

We are built to offensively dominate teams. Georgia is built to rely on their defense to win games. Pick your poison? That's all you saw Saturday and the score was 41 to 24.

Is this coach saying that he still has questions about Mac?

I thought that at first too, but I think he's talking about Bennett, relative to how he could've performed against what he saw from the Alabama defense.

We got lucky UGA's OC went braindead in the second half.

All they needed to do to keep us was continue to run the ball and throw the ball the their RBs out the backfield.

We literally couldn't stop them if they ran at Dylan Moses or if they threw to a player Dylan was covering.

Are you talking about Ronald Williams?? He has not even been spoken of at all. Not sure if he is an option at this point

Call me pessimistic but...i don't think that they needed a trade. If Bennett were 6'2" ...i think it is a different ball game. Granted if Bama is able to play them in the SECCG ....Bennett will not be any taller but, c'mon, that last UGa drive before half was about a bad of defensive football as i have seen. Jump offsides twice when it becomes obvious its intentional. A TE left open on the next play. A wr left wide open after that..if not for bad throws, any one ofb those are an easy TD catch. Cant expect to be bailed out on that many bad throws.

Bennet is at best an average SEC qb and would not have beaten UA the other night at any height. Maybe they would have scored 7 to 10 pts more, but Alabama was running clock in the 4th quarter and probably could have scored at least 10 more points too.

Let's see Mac answered in Auburn/LSU game and he answered in several games, but I do agree, there is one remaining questions.. can he get a team out of hole?

Bama hasn't covered a back out of the backfield in at least two years

Bama has not covered a back out of the backfield since Saban installed his D. It is an inherent weakness along with the middle of the field. No D can cover the entire field. You choose your vulnerabilities.

And Saban is the GOAT. And the D today is his D just like when KS was here, KS was here, JP was here and now Golding. Not saying the DC plays no part but this is not only Saban's D, it's his baby.

The fault lies with HCing, DC coaching, lesser players at some positions, rules changes, more skilled offenses. Alabama's players and coaches are not bad but the players are a notch below and the coaching is not quite what it was, then the rules and offenses.

Also, Saban's early great Ds were always a bit overrated. The O protected the D and SEC offenses lagged behind. Their O no longer protects the D and SEC offenses are at the top now in skill and near the top in sophistication (Bama at the top).

Coach No. 6

“I got ‘Bama by 21. We’ll see,” said one coach before kick-off.

“I thought that dude (Stetson Bennett) actually showed some savvy and impressed me for the most part. I felt going into the game that Alabama still would win comfortably considering those rosters and the difference in development.

“But there are still some questions about that (Crimson Tide) defense and the quarterback for me.”

Coach 6 still has questions about the Bama quarterback?

Wtf.

Apparently successfully navigating the best Defense in the SEC and maybe the nation isn’t enough?

I think we’re forgetting that 4 games in, we would’ve had 2 tune up games already to help fix some of these issues we are seeing. Instead, we faced Missouri which I’ll say is probably about where USC is, Texas A&M which is 3-1 in the conference, Ole Miss who had probably the best gameplan imagineable and the horses to run it against us, and UGA which we would’ve actually played a week early.

The one thing that’s amazing is our offense is humming at a level I’ve never seen. That OL is the biggest we’ve ever had, but they’re also the best pass blocking OL I think I’ve ever witnessed at the college level. The defense will improve with time (not sure if they’ll ever reach our standard but I’ll take weekly improvements and this offense)

This year has been one shite sandwich and yet we may end up setting offensive records with 2 less games in which to do it

Mac Jones is not a runner.

This area Mac could improve his game this year IMO. He has played lights out, but has seemed reluctant to tuck and run at times when the defensive pass rush opens the middle of the field. A few times on Saturday, he had chances at 10+ yd plays, but he didn't take them.

Outside of his ability to roll out and extend plays and make a great throw out of nothing, Burrow was deadly at well timed rushes either called or when opportunity presented itself to gash the defense and keep them honest in subsequent series. Mac has the ability to do the same. I disagree with the "not a runner" comment from an ability POV; i think it is decisional not to do so.
