Had to turn the volume off watching the baseball game. He is an absolute look at me announcer like Vitale. He is horrible at play by play and it's time for new blood.

You'll be downvoted, but he has past his prime.

He must get high marks with the people that employee him. I watch a game for the athletic accomplishments and an announcer unless he is an AU homer very seldom ever riles me up. And to compare him to Vitale is an assinine comparison. Maybe he is past his prime to some of you young bucks but he is nothing like Dickie V.

Eli is past his prime, but in my opinion, he isn’t Vitale level. Eli isn’t good though. He’s just collecting a paycheck at this point

The key to good announcing - (1) keep talking - dead air-space is unforgiveable. (2) when you are filling space with words, talk about the people, tell us what is going on. Eli will talk about stuff totally unrelated to keep from violating rule 1, but then I have no idea what is going on. He needs to be replaced

He's on Vitlate level for me, in that I have avoided listening to him for years.

well i'm not a young buck! for me, there's never been a single call on which i'd rather hear eli over forney, not one! give me a southern accent over a yankee every day. plus, i never had any indication forney was just doing his job. when i listen to eli, it's because i have to. while i still go back and listen to forney because i loved his calls.

those of you that are hating on Eli tell me your ages please. I think it is a generational thing. I very seldom listen to radio while a FB game is going on. I have heard him mostly do play by play for alabama Baseball while watching SECNplus

I'm 57 and have never like Eli Gold. I had to listen to the first half of the game on the radio today. Was frickin putrid. Give me Chris Stewart all day long.

Was driving and had to listen a while to the radio. You have to drag out of him what's happing on the play. The team is back in the huddle before he puts enough words together so you can finally figure out what happened. He thinks it's all about him.

Every line EG delivers, it’s like he’s trying to have his hobnail boot moment.

Except the Hobnail Boot moment was raw and pure spur of the moment emotion. Eli had that chance on 2nd and 26 and instead rolled out a pre-scripted line with zero emotion that he probably had written down ahead of time. Chris Stewart should’ve been handed the job right then and there.
