I'm trying to find someone to watch my dog for spring break. If I can't (which it seems likely) I'm going to have to drop her off at a kennel. Do you guys have any suggestions, and how much would it cost per day? I'm open to any place around the Tuscaloosa/ Birmingham area.

Depending on the kennel, I'd say anywhere from 15 to 30 a day. Sorry no recs, the chain ones usually look cool in the front but suck in the back. The "spa/resorts" are expensive, but they are treated like at home. Vets can be hit or miss. My vet has an awesome kennel and staff. 60lb is 18 a day.

It's much better to just pay a friend $100 to come stay at your house. Everyone has a friend that needs $100.

If I were still in Tuscaloosa I'd do it for free. Unfortunately I don't have a fence here and my mom wouldn't let it in the house.

Before we bought a house out near the in-laws, we boarded our dog at Bryant Drive Animal Hospital. They charged about $12/day for standard care and for $3 extra they walked the dog two more times per day.

She came back with a bath, her nails done, and anal glands drained. It was like she was on doggy vacation.

Def recommend Bryant Drive Animal Hospital. Dr Threadgill is awesome and very reasonable. One of the few vets I've gone to that actually views your pet as part of your family instead of a payday.

I use May Veterinary (Northridge) location. They are close to home and I have known them for years.

Guy May is a great guy (for an Auburn Fan).

If you are looking in the Tuscaloosa area, my dad has put his dachshund up at Hot Diggity Doggy Camp in Northport. The dog loves it, he hops out of the truck and goes right up to the ladies door. I think someone lives there so someone will be with the dogs all the time. Here's a URL. Hot Diggity Doggy Camp
