The fastest any ball carrier in the NFL has been clocked at this year (21.8) ... and he weighs 250 pounds.

Not bad for a linebacker

I would love to have seen Henry the LB, but looks like he's doing alright at RB.

I wonder what DB's are thinking when they have to come up on him when he has a full head of steam.

Levi Wallace looked so damn small chasing after him.

His size and running style creates such a deceptive speed. You can’t get hesitant or he’s already by you. If he was with a great offensive team, I can only imagine what he’d put up.

Is Henry the best player of the Saban era?

I say yes. It's between him and Julio. DH is doing stuff that no RB has done in a long time.

At this rate, he's on his way to the college and NFL Hall of Fames. Julio might match that, but DH is and has been the best RB in the league for a while. Julio has always been a top 1-3 WR but not heads and shoulders above other WRs (needs more TDs).

That's the fastest of ANY ball carrier this season... including Ruggs and Tyreek Hill. Amazing!

Henry could easily end up as the best Alabama player ever, when you consider pro career. He is incredible. If the stats hold (projected 2k), he will tie Earl Campbell in rushing titles and I think he would be the first to have multiple 2k rushing seasons

You'd be hard pressed to find another player that is better at his position and based on his size has the same athleticism. He's special.

I'd say so. He's at least equal to the other greats. If you're counting just the overall college careers, the only thing to hold against him is that he only had one elite season. Given, it was about the greatest college season by a running back of all time.

The other names I think you have to put out there are Devonta. Had the most iconic play in school history, also a heisman winner, set a bunch of WR records, similarly dominant to Henry in his senior year but perhaps not quite as much. Also had the benefit of a great QB and run game, which Henry did not have a great QB or pass game (fine, but not great).

I think you have to look real hard at Barrett Jones too. Won a national championship as a starter at three different positions. Outland and Rimington trophies. All American at two different positions. That's basically the greatest possible career an offensive lineman could ever have.

On defense your best candidates are, in order, Minkah, Mosley, and Jon Allen. I don't think any had quite the career to take the top mantle. Will Anderson will have his shot at it for sure. Anderson may end up in NYC as a heisman finalist this year or next, maybe a number one pick, I really wouldn't be that shocked.

Thinking about this question also makes me sad all over again for Tua. Without the injuries, we're likely talking about a QB who won at least 2 championships. Who won at least one heisman and was in NYC for another. Who has the most iconic performance and moment in school history. Two time first team all american. Number one draft pick.

The other guy with a shot is going to be Bryce. If he can win a heisman or win a championship, both plenty possible, he'll be in the mix. Barring injury he will likely get two first team all american selections. He will have a strong case to be the number one pick.

Yep. He's basically in the same position McCarron was in and far more gifted.

I actually think he is in the best spot for him to succeed. Too many teams want to throw the ball too much or split carries, but in Tennessee, Henry has the backfield to himself, and a QB who needs him to be successful with the play action.

Give Mac Jones a little time. I think he may one day exceed all Bama QB's in terms of pro career.

His QB performance last year was best ever at a school that has produced 3 NFL hall of famers.
And it isn't really close.

Pro? Best. Maybe. Certainly the most well known.

He's the first Saban player to be clearly "the best at what he does" in the NFL. Julio would be a close second but I don't think that was ever unanimous--we all believe it though.

The most ACCOMPLISHED Saban player while AT Alabama is Devonta Smith. And I don't think it is particularly close.

Last year people were thinking Smitty was making Mac look good... now everyone knows they were making each other look good. We'll never see an offense like that again.

Derrick Henry will have to be in the discussion of greatest RB ever. Bo and Herschel have time enhancing their legacies in college, but neither is in the NFL HOF...DH is going to bust through the front door of the HOF. He's in Jim Brown/Barry Sanders territory. Combine college and pro... he'll have a strong case for best ever... even after this season.
