Conversation with a source

I had a very lengthy conversation with a player of ours from the DC/Baltimore area. Things we discussed:
He said it was very difficult to sit on the sidelines during the year, he was very upset at the coaches because he knew he was better. Exact words “give me 3 seconds and he won’t get a straight pass”. He said the natty was awful just watching sub par edge rushers.
Said he almost left but he will play a lot this year and knows he is a starter.
I asked how the team felt in general, he said it’s not mad it’s just edgy. He said they have had some heated talks and scraps but not in a dividing way just frustration. I told him the secondary killed us the in the game he said don’t worry we are good to go this year. He also mentioned a lot of the leaders had NFL blinders on and caused issues, he said the guys who were more quiet last year are much more vocal this year. Almost like they were waiting for them to leave. Williams was one them.
Finally I said “you realize it’s us and Clemson again right” he said “ no I don’t think so, he said they have a monumental amount of internal problems right now, large fights, locker room divided type stuff”
Anyway I wanted to share. I talk to this player from the NE often and he is filled with insight. He is the type I can ask questions from the group and he will answer.

Payne was in the NFL last year. Maybe I’m missing something.

You mean that he says our team has internal problems?

He said the player said Bama was edgy and had heated talks but not in a divided way so I assume he meant Clemson. Not sure how player would know that though

A lot of these guys know each other from the recruiting trail. I'm sure more than a few still text each other.

Will have to say that Q was a beast all year. Not sure what went on behind the scenes

Yeah, I’m guessing his last name rhymes with Sonoma.

It’s kinda funny. Each of the last 4 or 5 times the narrative was “who could possibly beat those guys?” going into a season, that team didn’t win it all:
2009 Florida, 2013 Bama, 2014 FSU, 2015 Ohio State, 2018 Bama
Those were about as consensus preseason #1 as a team can get. Hearing that all offseason is a powerful thing

Wonder what Qs disruptive qualities were. He was a force all season and never took plays or games off.
There were others who clearly took the NC and some other games off. Second half of the Oklahoma game is one example.
Well this player will get a chance to put his talent where his mouth is. Will be watching with great interest. Thanks Boz.

Boz, a question: Do you know what's the situation with Kaho as it pertains to him playing/contributing at Bama in 2019 and beyond? Thanks in advance.
