Is going on and on about how the chargers need to draft Tua and met him work his way into starting lineup and replace Phillip Rivers. Said they should trade up from 11th to 5th with Jets and get Tua. Said the chargers have a good roster and with Tua they'd be legit. New Stadiun, Tua in LA will sell tickets.

Said injury may be a blessing in disguise with his draft by not going to a completely shite team.

So much of this mass speculation is based on his recovery and healing. Know one will really know anything, or make any decisions for another 5 months at least.

Tua on the west coast would be a great fit in a place with a large Polynesian population.

I don't think that's true at all. They should be able to tell fairly quickly (less than 2 months) how the recovery is going. He should be throwing again in 5 months and they should know if he's making a full recovery well before then.

Speculation from NFL GM's are from one extreme to the other.

"According to Florio, the founder of ProFootballTalk.com, NFL general managers have begun to voice their concerns about Tagovailoa’s ability to stay upright.

“I communicated with roughly a dozen NFL general managers today and the first question is going to be, ‘How is the hip? How long will it take to heal? Will he be healthy?’ And even if it heals completely, there are concerns about his durability,” Florio said on the show. “This is his third lower-body injury. Can he sustain the wear and tear that goes with being an NFL quarterback?”

Now that there are concerns about Tagovailoa’s status moving forward, Florio shared two suggestions that came from NFL GMs while discussing Alabama’s talented passer.

“One NFL general manager suggested you could draft him in the first round next year and just don’t play him, like they used to do with first-round quarterbacks before they put them on the field right away,” Florio added. “Another GM suggested that maybe he just decides to stay at Alabama next year and that would throw the first round of next year’s draft into flux.”"

okay, well I am just going by this tweet:

Adam Schefter
@AdamSchefter
Tua Tagovailoa will be on a partial weight bearing recovery plan for six weeks and will be rehabbing daily in Tuscaloosa, per
@LauraRutledge
. Then, in three months, he will be able to begin athletic activity again, and by the spring, he is expected to be able to resume throwing.

I read that as 6 weeks + 3 months, but maybe I read it wrong.

Even if I did read it wrong, it looks like it will be at least 3 months until he can begin athletic activity again.

I would think that GMs would want to see him perform athletically before making any kind of decisions. Not to mention Tua would want to see how he performs athletically before he himself makes any decisions.

Thanks for the link.

This is what a lot of people have forgotten

It is a fairly recent trend that 1st year QBs are being used as the starter. For years and years a QB would have to wait at least a year before getting on the field, barring an injury to the Vet QB on the roster.

Nowadays GMs and Coaches are playing them right away and let then learn under fire. Boom or bust production from game to game vs a steady production level they'd get from a Vet Qb. Not nearly as gradual of an intro to playing time these days. Some of it has to do with the fact these QBs being more ready to start from day one due to better coaching in college and HS . The players are more physically ready as well due to the insane amount of training they do in college these days.

Well that's a big no shite comment.

However, what are your thoughts on what Collin is saying. i.e. a team like the chargers should draft him and gradually bring him into the fold in year 2 and let him replace the old Vet they have aka Phillip Rivers.

Tua will get drafted high 1st round unless there is a complication that would prevent his recovery. Most all reports are for a full recovery, so let's go with that and we can get past all the no shite type takes.

Like in other post it mentioned by GM, it was the norm, not long ago,for QBs to not play year 1 anyway so since he will fully recover take him round 1, rehad him and gradually get him on the field. If that isn't until year 2 no big deal they've got their Vet (Rivers, Big Ben, etc) to play until Tua can take the reigns.

He will bring

Pretty sure he needs to make a decision by mid-January.

Oh, how much I hope this happens. Rivers will hang around another year or two, but his arm is gone. The Chargers need desperately to find a replacement.

LOL, generally I'd agree but he really like Tua at the next level as a super star QB.

He made some very good points.

It is the 2nd and 3rd contracts where player make their Bank!

That by dropping Tua should end up at a better overall organization,

LA would be a great fit for Tua, especially from a marketing aspect.

he could learn the offense amd how to be a pro from a very good Vet in Rivers and he would need to be thrust into a starting role too early.

Generally speaking CC is a huge douchebag and I don't normally care to listen to him but his Tua segment was pretty darn good.

Tua with those Charger offensive weapons would be great. They even have a few stars on Defense led by one of the Bosa brothers. Great weather to play in to.
