Jim Nagy, Director of Senior Bowl, says not just SEC but the nation

Jim Nagy, Senior Bowl

quote:

You can replace the word “SEC” with “Nation” for @AlabamaFTBL at No. 1. There’s really not a close No. 2 this year.

I want to just mash teams into the ground. I want it to be just brutal

Throwing it around looks nice, but smashing teams just demoralizes them. 80 yard drives with only 1 or 2 pass plays, will make teams give up.

When you can sling it around to get a big lead and then crush their souls in the 2nd half......that's chefs kiss perfection.

Shoot, I want to come out and smash them to pieces on the first drive and set the tone. “We’re going in dry, and you can’t do a thing about it”

I want a dominant "make their asses quit" defense again too!

I do think it's imperative to the mindset and identity of the 2020 team to come out and maul people early and often. That doesn't mean go all Les Miles run on run downs, but it does mean having faith in your uglies and back to get 4-5 yards most plays.

Then you start mixing and matching. But this team is built to bring back that identity that we are tougher than you and you can't stop it. We need to let them do it. Badly

This past season took a lot out of me. Serious injuries, seemingly every week. I was so ready for it to be over. I hope the team feels rejuvenated as well as the fans

The ground game will be awesome this year. So much talent on the offensive line coming back, all tight ends returning plus the transfer from UNC. Of course the running back room is arguably the best in America. Should be interesting to see how the rotation shakes out.

The 2012 team was so awesome. The way they ran all over UGA and Notre Dame in the last two games was epic. I think we had 350 yards rushing against the Dawgs that day. Lacy and Yeldon were unstoppable.

lol, i lost an online buddy over that notre dame squashing. he was big mouth yankee notre dame grad. talked all kinds of trash prior to the game. i finally told him, notre dame didn't have a clue what was fixing to hit them. he just laughed and kept spewing his crap. he only spoke to me once or twice afterwards. then just disappeared.

as for this o line. i hope they're a lil bit trimmer and quicker. mauling people is fun to watch. but nowadays, you have to be able to score with these high flying offenses. a stud defense now, may mean holding an opponent under 35 points.

Let's just hope they don't start calling themselves the Pancake Posse circa 2000.
