Sources: Long Island tabbing Alabama, Nick Saban staffer to head coaching post

Ron Cooper, a veteran coach with experience in both the NFL and at myriad Power 5 programs, including serving this season as a senior analyst on Nick Saban’s Alabama staff, will be named head coach at Long Island University, sources tell FootballScoop.

O'Brien will get another chance to be a head coach again soon at the NFL level, just not a GM (that was what got him fired). In his six seasons he had 4 division titles and only one losing season. If he doesn't become GM and make those ridiculous trades, he probably doesn't get fired. Khan could (and has) do a lot worse.

Appreciate what he's done, but not too bothered by it. He missed his big fish in Denver Harris and it's not like Saban doesn't have 3 analysts for DBs alone to fill in(if not himself).

Would love to get Karl Scott back, not sure if a big enough position title is there for him though...

Corners seemed to play well under him. But hard to grade his career so far. He has only stayed a year at every stop.

Little was the top DB on Bama board this year so I was good missing the Texas and Cali kid, because I want the three instate kids this next cycle.

Major need for DB in the next class, and a lot of opportunities for young players.

Dabo is hiring Nick Eason from Auburn as DL coach.

While it looks like a good hire, I can’t help but wonder if his only criteria is former Clemson player or someone that worked with him at Alabama or Clemson.

If Harbaugh leaves for the NFL seeing speculation for Bill O’Brien's name as a candidate for HC at UM.

Didn’t really miss on Domani. Would of signed with us but USC smartly kept Donte, Bama knew if he was kept on there was nothing we could do. Now Denver Harris is a completely different story. Valai screwed that up horribly, Saban couldn’t even save it. Soon as he signed with a&m Valai was outta here.

Seems to be momentum building that Harbaugh is headed to the Raiders and it is hard to believe Todd Graham will be able to keep the Hawaii job.

Adam Schefter tweeted that O'Brien is also up for the Panthers' OC spot, along with Jay Gruden.

Thought it was announced he was going to Florida as a big money co-dc hire, if not would love him back here, heck of a recruiter and seemed like a solid db coach. Wiggins should be a major priority keep imo.
