Just curious, what's with all the different types of if stoles, tassels, and caps ?

I don't remember all the different styles when I graduated a year or two (wink, wink) ago.

I guess the different color tassels are for what college ( business, engineering) you graduated from.

The academic honors summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude – awarded for cumulative GPAs of 3.9 or higher, 3.7 and 3.5, respectively – are designated by honors stoles “in the traditional colors of their school or college,” so they will match tassel color.

A red mortar board, likely to stand out from the crowd, indicates the graduate is leaving with a 4.0 GPA.

Degree candidates with silver cords indicate participation in the University Honors Program, while royal blue and gold cords indicate the International Honors Program. A purple honor cord designates Computer Based Honors.

In addition to these University-wide honors, many individual schools, colleges and other student organizations will award members with designations. Business Honors Program members, for example, will wear tan cords to match their tassel.

The Kente Stoles are for African American students

I’m graduating in May. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that these guys can devote the time to football to play at that level AND devote the time to school to achieve such high gpa. I work my arse off to have a 3.65. I’m just not buying it.

It really all depends on your major. I graduated from UA with a 3.2 GPA without really even trying. I waited until the night before a 10-page research paper was due to even start the thing and I got a B+ on the assignment.

Trust me, after sophomore year, things tend to get easy. I graduated with 3.89 and barely cracked the book open. Professors these days will tell you what to study for and what will be on tests.

Not saying you are dumb, or they're really smart, but these guys do have every available resource, such as tutors, to help them learn.
I suppose tutors are available for the common student, also, but perhaps the common student doesn't have someone over them pushing them to perform well.

Yeah, they have access to every available resource to help them academically and it's almost spoon fed to them so if you are a decent student, it should be possible to keep the GPA up as an athlete.
