Fair enough. Continue the debate guys.
I'll chime in. I don't think in today's world it really matters where you get your journalism degree. The profession is dead. Might as well debate the merits of different schools' ancient language programs.
Our attention spans no longer allow for it to be a profitable enterprise.

Why mention Bone when you can use Rece Davis?
Oh that's right, he would kill your point.
You're literally shitting on the university and have gone as far as to use the worst examples on Alabama to support your case yet the best you could find for Michigan.
Just stop.

It doesn't matter who I list the point is you think UA gives him an advantage and I disagree. If you want names take Rece Davis and I will call you with Dan Dierdorf, Dana Jacobson, Tracy Wolfson, Adam Schefter, or whoever because my point is both colleges can get him into the business.
And no I am not shitting on the university just not blind by the reality if journalism is where he wants to take his post-NFL career(assuming he makes it)UM in my opinion has just as much to offer if not more. Not a homer when it comes to education. May be with football at times but I understand the value of a degree and the opportunities it creates outside of sports.

But UT has good old Paul Finebaum. Game over UT with the win.

I'd say he is, in the eyes of most HS kids, on par with Rich Eisen.

I will call you with Dan Dierdorf,
HS player says, "who?"

Dana Jacobson
HS player says, "who?"
quote:
Tracy Wolfson
HS player says, "who?". (I mean, honestly, we could counter with McElroy here and likely be on par present day)

Adam Schefter
Your only +1 of the entire point.

Education? Sure. Football playing career (college & NFL) and then broadcasting career after? Doubtful.
I love ya, bro, but we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

Another thing to consider with this conversation you all are having. You are only looking at Sports Broadcast Journalism. The Journalism field is much, much larger than that although I understand why you all are focusing on that area. He may have interest in writing digital content and magazine articles for the tech sector or producing content for a global travel podcast.
Ok it is probably sports but still, just a thought.

I will say something about this, he doesn't have to know who they are to show them thier work or for them to care about that person. Most kids don't know the CEO of CVS but if you brought him to a Pharmacy School as an alum that would excite kids.
I think another piece that should be addressed is that even as a blue chip athlete he is likely at most only having a 3 year NFL career. His internships and degrees are more likely than not going to come into play in his life.
We got a sweet journalism setup at Bama though, seriously you can tour it. You should.

Y'all are all totally missing the fact that if academics really meant that much to him he could have just gone to Stanford and played on a better team, with better weather, and while I think David Shaw is a prick he doesn't have an obvious developmental disorder like Harbaugh. Someone said that the mods on Michigan's 247 board were saying they promised him he could start as a freshman and Saban would make no such guarantees. That makes way more sense than academics or alumni networks. Other schools are on par with Michigan there but have as much or more to offer in terms of quality of the football program and quality of life in general.

It was cringe-worthy last year reading this board's reaction to the QB who picked Princeton over Alabama.
bullshite.....Literally no one on this board faulted that kid for choosing Princeton over Alabama.
.....and Michigan plays the same game and is part of the same hypocrisy that Bama does so STFU.

Stanford is known for many things but Journalism is not one of them. USC would be the better example. By the way I'm not arguing either side.

I'm thankful that Hill didn't wait till the last minute. This gives us time to make up some ground on kids that we might have been slow playing. There's always a positive

I actually heard that we may only have 1 spot left for a DB and heard there may be a diamond in the rough the staff just found out about and watching how his season plays out. Currently he is not ranked but I assume if we offer because he blows up his senior season he should at least end up as a 3 star

LINK ]Top uncommitted recruits in Louisiana for the 2019 class (Geaux247 | embedded video)
quote:
The state of Louisiana is well-known for producing some of the best football talent in the country on an annual basis, especially when it comes to a per capita perspective. The 2019 recruiting cycle is no different as Louisiana is home to four prospects who are five-star recruits on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, as well as 10 more four-star prospects and dozens of quality three-stars.
The new recruiting calendar has accelerated the decision-making process for a lot of recruits, but there are still big names in Louisiana who have not yet committed, including one of those five-star prospects. Eleven of the top 26 players in Louisiana, according to the 247Sports Composite, have not yet committed. Below is a rundown of those prospects, where they rank, and what the 247Sports Crystal Ball says about each at this time.

Amite High School five-star defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher is the top uncommitted prospect in the state of Louisiana's 2019 class. Sopsher has maintained for months that he will wait until National Signing Day in February to make his commitment. The 247Sports Composite ranks Sopsher as the No. 6 overall recruit nationally in the 2019 class, as well as the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country. He is ranked No. 2 overall in Louisiana. LSU holds a strong lead on the 247Sports Crystal Ball with 95 percent (19 of 20 predictions) of the forecasts to date. Alabama has the remaining 5 percent.
