I'm not blown away by Pickering's highlight video. Also, he seems extremely wishy washy, and has through the entire process. That being said, I imagine he would develop well in our scheme if he has the right mentality. His measurables are excellent, even if the production isn't "elite" yet.

Bottom line for me... if we could get him, and Coach Kul and Sabes want him, I'd be thrilled. As is, he's a little bit down my wish list.

I don't dislike his film. He's good. Just don't like it quite as much as Ty Robinson, Ika, or Sopsher. Also, not quite as much as Byron Young. A lot of guys with his ability really have the light come on in their senior years, though. He may be completely dominant this year so far, for all I know.

FWIW, one of the guys I listen to said that our state of MS DL pecking order was 1.Young 2.Pickering (close between 1 and 2). 3.Handy.

So I would gladly take Pickering.

Here are Eboigbe's midseason highlights. He's a freak. You won't find many highlight videos that can compare to this.

He's so quick coming off the ball that he's even with the OL before they move. Damn

The scary thing is that he hasn't even filled out yet. He's currently listed at 263, but if he can get to 280 while keeping his speed, he's going to be practically unblockable.

Freshman report: Tracking freshmen vs. A&M, through four games (BamaOnLine)

quote:

Top-ranked Alabama advanced to 4-0 (2-0 SEC) with its 45-23 win over Texas A&M on Saturday in the Crimson Tide’s SEC home opener. And in its Week 4 conference game, a total of seven true freshmen from Alabama’s No. 5-ranked signing class from the 2018 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite, saw the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The seven freshmen that entered Saturday’s game have now appeared in all four of the Tide’s regular-season contests. And with a new redshirt rule that allows student-atheletes to play in up to four games and still maintain a year of future eligibility, they have reached their max number of games if the plan is for any of them to redshirt -- although that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Six other first-year players have participated in at least one game this season, just not Saturday against the Aggies. So, these players could be destined for another appearance or two during this season before things shut down and they return next year as a redshirt freshman...

With the fourth game of 2018 behind us, we help you keep track all of the true freshmen that entered the game against A&M in Alabama’s SEC home opener and throughout the season.

PATRICK SURTAIN II - No. 1 CB, No. 6 overall in 2018 rankings

Surtain made the first start of his career at right corner, and the former 5-star recruit also picked off Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond, recording the first interception of his career. Surtain added three tackles and one pass breakup and lined up on the Tide’s punts and punt returns.

JAYLEN WADDLE - No. 5 WR, No. 39 overall in 2018 rankings

Waddle was announced as a starter during pregame warmups, and while he was the first and only punt returner to see the field for Alabama, he came off the bench at receiver. The Houston native caught three passes for 21 yards and returned two punts for 25 yards (13 avg.).

SKYLER DELONG - No. 4 P in 2018 rankings

DeLong punted the ball six times for 216 yards (36.0 avg.). He had two punts of more than 50 yards with a long of 51, while his shortest was 13 yards. DeLong landed three kicks in the 20.

EYABI ANOMA - No. 1 OLB, No. 4 overall in 2018 rankings

Anoma entered the game at outside linebacker in the fourth quarter and was flagged for a horse collar tackle, which was a questionable call. The former 5-star recruit did not record any stats.

ALE KAHO - No. 7 ILB, No. 133 overall in 2018 rankings

Kaho played on all four special teams units -- kickoff return, kickoff, punt return and punt. But the late addition to Alabama’s 2018 signing class did not register any stats against Texas A&M.

JAYLEN MOODY - No. 49 ILB in 2018 rankings

Moody played on punt return. He did not record any stats.

JOSH JOBE - No. 14 CB, 109 overall in 2018 rankings

Alabama’s participation chart shows Jobe saw the field. He did not record any stats.

Not yet, but Hank has already posted a couple of VIP interview articles:

2020 5* CB Dwight McGlothern sounds VERY high on the Bama, anxious to return soon and wants his parents to come.

2019 4* RB Jerrion Ealy talks like he's seriously considering flipping to Bama, but said he'll wait until close to Feb NSD to decide for sure.

Do you think the staff told him to wait because they know that Trey Sanders is still out there? You have to think our staff still likes where they stand with Sanders, and I don't see us taking 3 RB's this cycle.

Man we have to stop taking these lesser talented guys early imo. Just saying Robinson maybe good as a rb but Ealy on another level just my opinion.

Will Alabama land 5-star OL Clay Webb? He stays off social media, stays coy about future (al.com)

quote:

Mum is the word.

Oxford's Clay Webb, the 5-star offensive lineman and the No. 1 prospect on the A-List, is keeping his college recruitment as closely guarded as the gold at Fort Knox.

There's no social media reports to where one of the few top remaining prospects is leaning or visiting last weekend, this weekend or next weekend.

"I guess that's good that there's no social media," he said. "I don't have to worry about saying this or that and it gives me a lot more time to spend with my friends."

A 5-star prospect according to the 247sports Composite rankings, Webb is rated as the nation's 20th-best prospect and sixth-best offensive lineman.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman, who projects as a guard or center in college, has yet to take an official visit.

Webb attended Saturday's Alabama-Texas A&M game and an unofficial visitor and was in Auburn last weekend for the Auburn-LSU game. He was in Tuscaloosa the week before for the Alabama-Arkansas State game.

"I probably won't take any official visits," he said. "I'll probably just go someplace every week for a game."

Webb is adamant he hasn't made any decisions. "I'm still weighing a lot of things," he said.

What's he looking for?

"I just need to find a team that I feel like suits me," he said. "I want to be surrounded by guys that I know I'll enjoy playing around. Probably the most important thing is what the team and what the players are like."

Webb said he plans to make his decision in mid-December. He said he will make his decision public on Dec. 19 and enroll early.

Speculation continues to center around Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia. He has an aunt who is an Auburn fan. He has a grandfather and aunt who are Georgia fans. He enjoys the family atmosphere at Clemson. He intrigued by Nick Saban's famed process at Alabama.

"I have no idea," said Oxford coach Ryan Herring when asked about Webb's college destination. "We've never had one conversation about his recruitment."

Webb has changed positions this season, switching to guard after starting at left tackle his previous three seasons. He is projected as a guard or center in college. "I've having a pretty fun time at guard, being able to pull," he said.

Webb also has slimmed down at guard, now tipping the scales at 290 pounds. "He's got all the qualities you would want in a guard," Herring said. "He's got really good feet. We added some inside zone this year and you really need a bigger guard. He was perfect for that."

Webb no longer is the "Gentle Giant" like he was when he was the biggest player at on the team when he first started playing football in fifth grade.

He was 215 pounds in sixth grade and his mom, Dana, would always preach to him to be gentle to his smaller opponent. Stories are he would pick up the players and gently lay them down.

"I guess I was so much bigger than everybody that I really didn't notice," he said. "I would fly through the line, grab the quarterback or whoever had the ball, and just lay them out." That's no longer the case.
