I don't feel great - he knows it over, he wanted it to work, we all did. It sucks.

Everyone likes him as a person. I think most people questioned the hire but thought it might work out. It just never got there. A little over .500 is about as good as it is going to get.

This doesn't need to drag on either.

If he's done, he needs to be done before week's end.

No it doesn't, but I don't quite get how it can be logistically if the idea is he leaves to take another job to look like a transition.

There won't be other jobs to take right now.

Coaching is a dirty business...you make it or you don’t regardless of what type of person you are. One can’t help but like Avery Johnson as a human being but unfortunately, the guy just doesn’t have it as a coach. I don’t like the heckling, the man doesn’t deserve that. He put his heart and soul into this program...it just did not work out.

If he's not done by Sunday he'll be our coach next year. I just don't see the point of waiting more than two weeks for it to drop, buyout or reduced GTFO package...he has to go.

ETA - does anyone believe New Orleans or any NBA team wants him? I agree with you SoG.

Avery's buy-out and the fact that he has been making serious bank for a long-time sort makes it hard to feel completely sorry.

We pay him a lot of money and we deserve better

Yea I don't feel sorry for him, that's the business.

I do think that any sort of negotionated buyout is going to be centered around him not being "fired", and logistically I'm not sure how that works at this time of year.

I can’t feel bad about anyone that has a chance of making an $8 million payday.

I guess the semantics means if he wants to go for another coaching gig or take the money. Cuban fired him as did Brooklyn.

I feel bad for the guy. He seems like a good person and he sold the program and brought excitement back. But damn, dude, if you don’t know how to coach college, surround yourself with guys who do. He didn’t even do a good job of that.
