Can we discuss Landon Dickerson?

Am I the only one who wasn’t impressed? He had a bad missed block in the first drive that resulted in a sack but his personality really stood out. After getting thrown to the ground in the first quarter he jumps up and gets in the face of the Duke player and begins to talk (I assume) trash. The play was already dead and a Bama player has to tug at his jersey to get him to walk off the field. Then fast forward to the Duke player getting ejected and his antics on the sideline. Not saying all this can’t be worked on and improved but I would have expected and grad transfer to have more discipline and maturity than that.
ETA: Error on my part. The missed block was by Wills and not Dickerson. I still stand by the comment that I’d expect more maturity tho.

I kind of like that he is a fiery player. That part doesn’t bother me, in fact, I’d say it’s about time we had an OL with a mean streak. What did bother me was his play. Very underwhelming. I hope he gets better as he settles in and the line begins to gel.

I didn't really notice all that much. He looked fine when I was looking at him. Their stunts had us all fricked up that first drive.

I think that he'll be moved to center when D. Brown comes back.

I agree. I guess I lean more to the show it on the field type response. If you get beat on a play then handle it on the next snap instead of after the whistle. “So you won that play? Then I’m about to pancake your arse on my way to the second level on the next snap” type of response. Not the smiling and waving at the camera as he walks off the field. Knock him down, pick him back up, then do it again. Talking shite from the sideline makes you look like a douche, dominating his arse on the field for 60 mins makes you look like a bad mfer. And doesn’t require you to talk shite.

I thought is conduct on the sideline after the play wasn't up to standards for Bama. Perhaps the FSU can be washed off him in time. One game is a small picture I know but the OL wasn't an impressive group. Nick made the statement that he and staff had expected problems from the Duke defense due to the amount of stunts they prefer in their system. I am not impressed with #74.

considering most of the ol play looked as if they were on valium, a lil fiery dust up might be good every now and then.

I disagree completely. I thought he was our best run blocker Saturday. He is a mountain. His arms are bigger than my legs. He is legit and he beat out some really good players for a starting role. He isn't the quickest guy out there but that's why he plays inside. He will win you over during the next few weeks.

not sure our starting 5 are set. That is why we saw 55 and 77 play a lot. I wouldn't be shocked if we saw a different starting 5. We may not be set on our starting 5 until the TAMU game

I thought 77 actually looked pretty good at LT later in the game.

No doubt. I think we eventually see Neal start at LG until cornbread gets back. He will be lethal with some experience under his belt. I like Dickerson at RG over Womack. Womack didn't play poorly or anything but he didn't move his man like Dickerson did.
Leatherwood
Neal
Owens
Dickerson
Wills
The OL didn't play as bad as lots of folks think they did. They did struggle a bit with stunts and they need to do a better job pass blocking but the OL always takes a few games to gel. I think we have the second best line in the SEC and it is plenty good enough for us to dominate 90% of defenses on our regular season schedule.

Yes sir there sure was. They didn't dominate our first two or three cupcakes but they improved over time with each other and when they got used to the quickness of live DLines they thrived. I doubt this group will reach that level of greatness but they don't have to in order for our offense to operate at peak performance.
I think we are gonna be able to convert third and short a high percentage of the time and I think the guys can punch it in inside the five yardline. They are really big/strong guys and Najee and Brian are power backs that get tough yards. I am more interested in seeing them become elite pass blockers because of the potential of our passing game. If they give Tua 4 or 5 seconds he will pick apart any defense in America with this corp of wide receivers.

A few years ago I made myself a rule not to form any sort of opinion on the O-Line until the end of September.

Wasn't the only sack a missed pickup by Wills that resulted in Ford having to attempt to pick up 2 rushers?

You are correct. That was my mistake thinking it was Dickerson.

Cole Cublic just said he was the most impressed by Dickerson. He finished blocks.

Najee tiptoes to the line more then a scared peewee kid.
