To me, AJ just doesn't have the NFL "zip". He kinda tosses everything. He's accurate and throws very catchable passes- but I could see him getting picked off quite a bit in the NFL.
Then again, he reminds me of Matt Ryan a little bit- put AJ on a team with some weapons and a solid running game and he'll be a solid starter. This is going to sound crazy, but I think he could be really good at Jacksonville.

Oh, and Raiders take Manziel. He's exactly the kind of player they typically draft- Heisman winner and fast; the Raiders completely ignore true ability.

He has Vinnie being drafted before Mosley in the second round. He knows nothing.

I think AJ will impress a lot of people in the combine. At Bama, they put a premium on minimizing mistakes rather than maximizing gains. I'm curious to see what AJ does when he can just sling the ball around.

AJ lacks arm strength to be elite. He is closer to say a matt Barkley projection. 3rd-4th rounder. Doesn't mean he can't succeed though.
Bridgewater is the wild card along with Logan Thomas, as their season will say a lot. Tajh Boyd has the arm, and is the safest bet late 1st rounder

Exactly, he doesn't have GREAT arm strength, but there is no doubting he has GOOD arm strength.

Logan Thomas shouldn't even be drafted, and his hype died in like week 4 last year.

Was thinking, if McCarron is a later first round pick, Minnesota would be a great landing spot.

He has the arm strength to make NFL throws & he displayed thaty this yr

Early buzz now is 1st rd which means either he will have anorther similar or better year and push himself up into a solid 1st, then solidify at the combine or if he has a mediocre yr (not likely given the talent) and shits all over himself at the combine (what happened to Barkley)

Bridgewater is a lock for a top 10 QB and the 1st QB taken, Logan Thomas is a quandry because he has the size & tools just a question mark (18 TDs 16 INTs 51.3% completion)

I agree I really like Boyd and think he's a sleeper

Sorry guys...AJ is a 2-3rd round pick. He will be a good backup somewhere if he does the same thing he has done the last 3 years. If for some reason Bama goes throw crazy and he lights it up my opinion might change but i dont see that happening. I view him similar to McElroy. He will stay in the league 4-5 years make about 250,000 a year and start him own chest only tatoo shop... Roll tide!

I'm not convinced AJ is as good as he looks while playing for Bama.
Exactly!! I hate when some bama fans think we have all the best/greatest players in the country...yea we have a couple great players that will go on to be great players on sunday but we also have some guys that are just (saban) system good, he puts them in the right spots to succeed on the college level to win college football games, example AJ Mccarron...if you really analyze AJ game his arm strength, his release, his footwork, his mobility etc he’s not a 1st round pick, if I was a GM I’m not looking at AJ until the 3rd round and I’m hoping I can get him in the 4th...but AJ is a great college system QB one of the best ever, kinda like tim tebow...but the NFL is not going to put him in a system to succeed ask tim tebow...AJ will have to be a good QB to succeed not a college system QB, he will have to use his arm strength, his accuracy, his mobility all the attributes that make him a average QB if you take away his 3 NC rings and playing under nick saban...AJ needs to get drafted somewhere he can sit for 2-4 years (thats what you expect from a 4th round pick) and learn, if not drafting AJ in the 1st or early second will ruin his career imo, he will be put in too early expectations will be too high.

If someone like Andy Dalton can be drafted early 2nd round, start as a rookie, and play well, then I don't see why AJ can't. I don't think he can go to a bad team and turn them around like Luck or RGIII, but I think he could be a solid starter on an average or better team

Andy dalton also took TCU to their full potential w/o a bunch of 5 star players and the best college coach nick saban... What has TCU done lately w/o Dalton the way heturned that program around says alot about him as a player and a leader.... And he doesn't have a big dumb lion chest tattoo so his decision making might be a lot better than aj

TCU went 22-3 the 2 years before Dalton started. They won 10 or more games 5 times in the 7 years before he started.

Gary Patterson is considered by most everyone as one of the top college football coaches in the country.

The went 11-2 the year after Dalton left. They stepped up in competition in the 2012 by moving to the Big 12 and went 7-6. Dalton never played as difficult a schedule as TCU had in '12.

He didn't turn the program around. It was already a very successful MWC when he became the starter. He did help them achieve a new level of success.

I think AJ's decision-making on the field, as demonstrated in his 25 starts, is one of the strengths of his game regardless of what ink he chooses to get.
My intention was not to hate on Dalton. But the same criticisms that are made of AJ are the ones that were made of Dalton: game manager, not the strongest arm, product of a great system on great teams. Dalton shows that you can be all those things and still be a good NFL QB.

Neither did I.

I think mid-round pick is his ceiling. And that'll be in '15 draft not next year

Sunseri is a rich man's Cody Grimm. Coaches' son, tweener, and ST ace. Grimm has transitioned to Safety from OLB, while Sunseri is already there.
Sunseri would have made a great collegiate weakside OLB, not that he's that bad of a safety.

Hundley, Fales, Boyd, Carr, Mariota, Bridgewater, Brendan Kay, Jake Heaps, and Murray all have the talent to potentially be first rounders. Either next year or 15. Mett could play his way into that discussion depending on his development. Whether they all fulfill their talents is a different story. Will all those guys get drafted before AJ? No. AJ is in the middle of that pack right now though. This season should create some gaps in this group.
I think we as Bama fans should be realistic. AJ has issues that prevent him from being a top flight NFL QB at the moment. His decision making is laborious on the field. He spends way to long looking at his primary read and misses or is late to the open man who provides the best option. Ending up either in a check down, or throwing it away, or a sack. Taking forever making reads means you miss opportunities. Especially when you are deficient in arm strength(I think his would be better if he would improve his throwing motion). Where I have the biggest issue with his arm strength regarding the NFL is the slow reads. You cant make late throws in the NFL, unless you have an arm like Stafford, Big Ben, Rodgers etc...and even those guys get picked when late on longer outs. His anticipation needs to be better as well for a guy with a "meh" arm. Even if a guy is open he sometimes still waits to throw, almost like he is trying to make sure. On a positive note, unlike physical limitations. Making reads and anticipation are things one can improve upon. He does make good decisions, he rarely makes mistakes with the ball, and he has no problem throwing a ball away if he is in a position to do so. He just needs to get faster in doing all 3 to be able to function in the NFL. Which is 5x faster than college. He has NFL measurables for his position. Is capable of making some plays with his feet when needed. He has a lot of upside. The question is can he develop to that next level mentally. We will see.
I think he would go mid to late second as he sits because as I have said. His single biggest issue is developmental/teachable, and it would help the second NFL knock against his game. He has the chance to improve this year. I am saying he will be a late first rounder because I am assuming he will improve at least somewhat. Though if he takes that jump to the next level completely on his reads, which is possible. He will more than likely be drafted in the top 15. In that scenario if he had the arm strength of say...Andrew Luck. He would vie with Bridgewater for No. 1 QB overall. However at the moment I would be willing to wager that someone like Luck. Who has great but not elite arm strength. Can throw roughly 5 mph faster, and 20 yds farther down field.
