The University of Alabama athletics department will announce a long-term facilities plan Thursday that includes a major renovation to Bryant-Denny Stadium, The Tuscaloosa News has learned.

The update to the Crimson Tide’s football stadium is expected to reduce seating by a small percentage from its current capacity of 101,821. It includes plans for a new video board in the south end zone and additional luxury boxes.

How much is a small percentage? Shite better not go below 100,000 or I’ll be mildly perturbed for a couple hours.

God damn it.

The only way I'll be happy with this is if they replace every single bleacher with individual seats.

Man I hope they demolish Coleman. Or at the least gut it to it's foundation.

They have put way too much money into Coleman Mausoleum over the last 20 years.

The long-term plan will also affect Coleman Coliseum, softball’s Rhoads Stadium and other athletics facilities. All facilities plans are subject to approval by the board of trustees. UA is expected to announce a capital campaign to raise funds for the facilities improvements.

This is in the article. We are doing something about Coleman. Let's wait till we actually hear from Greg Byrne to melt.

I think the rumor is they basically take out the South Endzone Deck, stack another row of skyboxes, then add a big jumbotron.

Don’t mind them tinkering with the South Endzone Upper Deck. I don’t want an Auburn-like Jumbotron though.

I wouldn't mind something bigger than what we have. The tiny corner screens suck, tbh.

Hopefully the affect on Coleman will be a bulldozer. Coleman was outdated when I was in school in the mid-90's. The renovations haven't been enough to bring the standard up to an acceptable level.

They could probably keep capacity at or near 100k if they removed the chairbacks from the west upper deck and went to bleachers to mirror the east side.

Theyre going to be turning some seats on the west side into suite-like seats as well. Obviously somethign you just have to do these days since people would rather watch the game on TV.

Very interested in what they will do with Coleman. I’m hoping they learned their lesson after the renovation in 2005. Hopefully it will be a “renovation” in name only and it’s almost a total rebuild. It’s an airplane hanger that gives off terrible optics on TV. I don’t think our program will ever reach it’s potential with the current arena setup.

wish they'd reduce the student tix - or at least reduce the greek tix. it's embarrassing that those seats are less than half full for some games. you're in college and the biggest thing going that weekend IS the game. don't leave and act like you've got something better to do, douche.
