Steve Prohm currently Head Coach of the Iowa State Cyclones. He’s only making $2mil a year vs Avery’s $2.9. Who’s getting the better bang for their buck? And his contract runs through 2021 or 22. His buyout is half of the money remaining in his deal. I don’t know if he has a dream job clause or not.

He wanted the Bama job when Avery was hired but because Battle was stupid and thought winning at Murray State as a rookie head coach wasn’t a good enough resume we passed on him. Iowa State capitalized on our mistake. Time to bring him home.

What a dumb reason to not like someone.

ETA: I don't think Avery gets fired this year. If he did though, Prohm would be a great hire.

Gotfried took bama Bball to levels it hasn't been to since and hadn't been to before him either. Gotfried would still be winning at Bama if he had the proper support he asked for and should have gotten.

He lost his desire to stay at Bama though he should have finished strong and not as he did.

I’m not saying he should be retained, just that I’m not convinced our AD will pull the trigger this year.

I also think this team is capable of a run though and I’m not going to unbuckle until the whole season plays out. I’m sure I’ll get downvotes for that, but oh well. We aren’t where I would like to be, but it’s still a long season

He won't pull the trigger because of his buyout and he got us to the tournament last year. Our best bet is for an NBA team to take him.

This. I don’t think he gets fired either (a guy can dream) but I think with Jr graduating and out of eligibility combined with obvious fires being lit under his chair should encourage him to consider returning to the NBA. We have to hope the Pelicans are truly considering him for a GM position which I think would actually be a better fit for Avery.

I don’t dislike the guy; he’s done some very good things for Bama and he’s been a good ambassador for the program. But his coaching sucks and that’s not gonna change. It took Bama’s first (and only? I think) ever lottery pick to get us in the Dance and eek out a win before getting sent packing. This guy could sell Zion Williamson and 4 other phenoms on the program and still be on the Bubble in February. That’s just who he is. Thanks for your work, coach, but it’s time to move on.

Gotfired's UCLA High Post-offense looked turrible during his time at Bama (barring the elite 8 run). He got fat and happy, just like he did at NC State (who gave him support, btw).

Prohm doesn't excite me. It's easy to compete at a program like Iowa State, the midwest is loaded with players with high bball IQs. We need somebody with a plan to find players anywhere and anytime. I wouldn't giving that assistant at Gonzaga a look, the one who does all of their foreign recruiting.

I understand the frustration with Avery, but if Prohm is the result of his firing, I’ll take being frustrated with Avery another 2 years.

Iowa State is having a good season. I understand why some may look at that and say he’d be a good hire. But Prohm took over a program that was an annual Top 25/Tournament team and was 13-18 in his 3rd year. That’s a huge red flag.

I still have faith in Avery. However, I do think he leaves after this year or next regardless.

This morning on the First Team on satellite radio Jay Bilas named Iowa State as a dark horse candidate to win it all this year. They prefaced it with saying there were 7 teams in the top tier capable of winning it all in Tennessee, Virginia, Michigan, Michigan State, Gonzaga, Duke, and Kentucky. When asked if there were any teams on the next level being overlooked that could be a dark horse and sneak up on people, he named the Cyclones and someone else.

Bring. Him. Home.
