Bitter Cleveland.com article - Urban never benched Barrett the way Saban benched Hurts

I got a kick out of this

quote:

CLEVELAND, Ohio - All Nick Saban, the new Bear Bryant, did Monday night was pull his veteran quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who was 25-2 as a starter, at halftime.

In his stead was a true freshman, Tua Tagovailoa, a native of Hawaii, who hadn't taken a meaningful snap all season and clearly had no need to buy a vowel before spinning his personal Wheel of Fortune.

Down 13-0 at halftime, with the game about to be lost - and not just any game, but the game, the College Football Championship Game - the new Bear won his sixth national championship.

the sardonic 'new Bear' label
quote:

Would Ohio State's Urban Meyer, the only reasonable challenger to Saban in the college football active coaches' magnificence derby, ever have yanked his quarterback, J.T. Barrett, for all his bipolarity in performance, for a better passer, such as, oh, redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins?
so bitchy...

Still butthurt about Baker Mayfield and apparently Dabo is a Meyer wannabe :

quote:

Of course, Georgia, by ousting Oklahoma and bratty quarterback Baker Mayfield, known for his Iwo Jima flag plant of an Oklahoma banner in the Block O at the Horseshoe, and Alabama, by knocking out Clemson coach and Meyer wanna-be Dabo Swinney, had already done great service from the Ohio State perspective.

Oh and remember how our 0-16 Browns used to have Saban:

quote:

Did I mention that Saban, a Kent State alumnus, was once the Browns' defensive coordinator under Bill Belichick?
and finally some moaning about the fact that in the SEC it just means more
quote:

When the game ended after midnight, my friend and fellow Vanderbilt and SEC slum, Douglas Bates, emailed a group of Commodore grads, wailing, "God, what  is with You and Alabama?"

One recalls Meyer's first season as head coach of Ohio State at the 2012 Big Ten preseason meetings in Chicago, when he was shocked that the bus driver was taking the Buckeyes straight to the main entrance of the media hotel.

"They'll overrun us!" Meyer yelped.

Secluded, private entrances were customary at the SEC meetings. Fans stalked their favorites like paparazzi on the trail of an A-list celebrity. No one stormed the bus in Chicago. Big Ten fans aren't that rabid.

Yeah I debated whether to even call it an article. Hopefully this is the writer's weekly informal musings feature

The best melts I've read on the net after Alabama winning this title are on the Ohio State 247 page. Those dip shits have absolutely lost it.
