We are 10 games in and KenPom stats are starting to have enough data to show some trends. Interesting to compare this team to the last 2 to see where we are different per the stats and see how it lines up with what our eyes have been telling us.

FYI - there are 351 D1 basketball teams in 2016, 2017 & 2018, so all of these are out of 351 teams.

2018 - #197

Offensive Rebound %
2016 - #220
2017 - #38
2018 - #172

My biggest takeaways are that we aren't as bad with turnovers as my eyes told me. My guess is because we have so many more possessions. Rebounding is down from last year as expected. Free throws are awful. Everything seems to line up pretty much. Overall shooting and defensive numbers are probably better than I expected.

I think the saddest thing is we've gotten better each year at it and we are still in the 300's

I'd love to see some sort of analysis of where we'd rank overall and in offense is we made 70% of our FTs (that would rank around 200th).

Great job! Appreciate the info, sorry the 1st comment was a negative, but I agree, would love to see the difference with a little improvement. If we are to make a run in the tournament FT's have to improve the way we get fouled going to the basket.

Hopefully Key improves the rebounding.

So, slightly better overall. Playing faster on offense. Instead of a bubble team, we're somewhere around a 10 seed. In, is in. But I'm hoping we get into at least the top 30 or so. We have the schedule opportunity.

No need for sorries, I totally agree. It's frustrating as heck, especially with how much we get to the line.

Collin is already climbing back up to around 80-85%, and he takes the most free throws, so at least we have that. Dazon HAS to shoot 70-75%. He is way too good at getting to the line to shoot 66%. But, at some point, that just is who he is I guess.

Nice. Some promising offensive improvement shown here for sure.

However - just how is it possible to be this fricking bad at free throws for three years straight? What is going on here?

Seriously, whatever the coaching staff is doing regarding free throws they need to stop and do the exact opposite.

I really do think schaffer should have a legitimate role on the team. Dude can flat out score. Is he a liability on defense? Yes, but it's worth it considering he can shoot and isn't a bad shooter. He can pass pretty well also

We need that 1 white 3 point specialist that can can come in and knock down a few per game.

I'd like to think that those horrible FT games early are still dragging our average down. Our average will continue to climb as long as we don't have any more total clunker games.

That's a good point. We've been better recently (mainly because Collin has been fouled so much and he basically had 2 terrible games early and is back to his normal 90% self now).

Memphis - 68%
Lipscomb - 38%
Alabama A&M - 53%
UTA - 63%
BYU - 75%
Minnesota - 72%
La Tech - 73%
UCF - 65%
Rhode Island - 62%
Arizona - 86%

So, it's still been hit or miss, but the last few weeks our "bad games" have been 62-63% as opposed to 38%.
