Bama's schedule is back loaded. In that we play

3 of our toughest matchups beginning with LSU. Prior to that we play UT. UT wont be down much longer. This would put 4 top opponents out of 5 games. I would not mind seeing MSU or LSU moved up to earlier in the schedule.
Thoughts? Of course this all might be moot should we go to a 9 game SEC format and then a lot would probably change.

I don't think MSU is ever really that good, so I have no problem playing them when we do.

Mississippi State being a top 25 team is not the norm and won’t be the case most years going forward.

That seems true. We play teams with good defenses to close the season, but their offenses are all as bad LSU’s.

One could argue that playing tough defenses to close the season prepares us well for the post-season.

Yeah, Mississippi State isn't that decent of a football team. In the five SEC games they have played thus far, they are averaging less than 14 points per game on offense.

They have moved Arkansas to later in the year for next year at least.
It's Texas A&M, UT, Arkansas, BYE, LSU, Miss State, Cupcake, Auburn.

I honestly think Tennessee is like Nebraska, they're never coming "back."

They are so far down the hole its hard to see.

Then again, it may be beneficial to have the first two thirds of the season to improve and get ready for that last third.

I don't know the future, but the landscape of college football has changed a lot. Mississippi State is bowl eligible for the 9th straight year and UT is looking like a miss for the 5th time in 9 years. Miss State is churning out more NFL players and has closed the gap in facilities/money. MS has more in-state talent as well.
I personally think we're looking at at least another 10 years of MSU being the superior program.

I don’t know. A lot of the advantages that UT leveraged 20 years ago to overcome the lack of instate talent aren’t there anymore but the talent in Tennessee is on the rise. The Middle Tennessee region has been one of the fastest growing regions in the country over the last 10-15 years and is showing no signs of slowing. I would agree that the quality isn’t quite there yet but with so much more quantity being added it still opens up more talent to UT from the region that was there traditionally.

And Nebraska is about 2 good recruiting classes away from dominating the B1G West division.
Mississippi State is the same as they've been throughout my lifetime. They have good years where they flirt with really good status like with Dak Prescott and before that when John Bond and the Nasty Boys broke Alabama's winning streak in Jackson. And they have some really bad years like under Sylvester Croom. But most years they are a middle of the pack SEC team hovering between 5-7 and 9-4.
But the one fact that remains constant is since we are closer to them than Oxford, they play their A+ game against us every year. We are their Sugar Bowl every year and it's never going to change. Playing them after the annual war that is the LSU game only magnifies their effort to catch us coming off an emotional high and a physical beating. They have seldom been successful at pulling off the upset, but they have created some pretty ugly wins for us in that spot. I hate this game in this spot. I'd much rather play the Citadel this week then play the two cow colleges back to back.

Both of our final SEC teams play us tough on their field.

I like it, i'd prefer a more difficult opponent earlier in the season, but don't think we need to be switching things or anything.
Team can get pumped up for the big games (LSU and Auburn) and hopefully be hitting their stride / peak performance at the right time of the season. Defense is coming along great, Wilson and Moses seem to have improved their play, Oline is starting to look like the oline we were hoping for in the offseason...

It’s a little embarrasssing that fans of a 17-Time National Champion believe the schedule could get difficult, and freakin’ Mississippi State of all teams needs to be moved lol

Hell I wish we could dump the Citadel and play UCF instead. But that ain’t gonna happen lol.
