However, Perez has since opted out of joining the Crimson Tide in 2021-22, telling SwimSwam that it had to do with the team’s recent coaching staff changes.
LINK our top men's recruit decided to not show up, gonna go to ASU instead. So arse chapping to see this turmoil in/over the program right now. Not gonna get overly disgruntled yet, since new coach isn't even to meet 1 yet

Didn't we have a freshman from last year leave also? Seems like there's some serious issues with the coach. Byrne made really good hires with Oats and Bohannon, but he sort of fell flat on his face with the volleyball and swimming hires.

This has to be double digits in the last 13 months. Coley was driving some away while still here. Then some more departed because he did. Coley bailed on his first college for the same reason I spurned them, and became a Gump. It was a coaching change
Regime changes in swimming can get ugly. Athletes are ridiculously committed to coaches. May not necessarily be the worst thing, but it may be bumpy for a year or 2... luckily it's swimming and most won't really care. Really hoping Margo can get some good recruits committed early and qualm my fears.

In reading the article, it sounded like the kid committed to ASU, then decommitted and committed to Bama. Didn’t enroll this fall at Bama and has recommitted to ASU but hasn’t enrolled there yet either and plans to enroll next year. I’m not sold on the new coach yet (as mentioned above, the team hasn’t started competition yet), but it sounds like the kid isn’t sure where he wants to swim in college.

He definitely signed with us, but everything is relatively correct.

Can't argue that one bit. If it were 1 or even 3 I wouldn't have mentioned it. The attrition is wearing on me though.
Saturday I plan on stopping by the pool at the o-dome and harassing the uf coach about getting us on the schedule in the near future. Dude coached me like 25 years ago, so it's always fun to pop in randomly, and quasi unexpectedly. Pretty much gonna threaten to show up at all future home meets with a "we want bama" sign

The attrition is absolutely alarming - especially following one of the most successful years in recent history. Sounds like some is due to Coley but most recent have been on her watch. Not sure if she’s rubbing them the wrong way or if they just don’t have faith in her as a head coach.
On a brighter note- those who choose to swim for Bama:

Alabama Soccer Falls in SEC Opener to Ole Miss, 2-1
It was the same story but different night for the Crimson Tide, and, upon final whistle, its statistical advantages over the Rebels weren't reflected on the scoreboard.

Dangit! I live 3 miles from this. I wish i would have read this thread earlier. Oh well. Mayor Battle did a great job with this old golf course. I was hoping it would attract something like this. I honestly thought it would just be a regional host site for high school cross country. Pleasantly suprised
