Alabama has had 7 or more players drafted for the 8th year in a row. That is absurd.

Well, we'll be shite at ILB again this season if it is coaching. We'll see if it was Mack or Golding

Point taken, but I was speaking more about the entire staff, especially the DC. I think a more experienced DC successfully jerks a knot in Wilson and straightens him out in 2018.

Again, Wilson (and those advising him) shoulder most of the blame here, but last year was the weakest defensive staff on the whole that we've ever had under Saban, and we got the least out of our players on that side of the ball in Saban's tenure.

I maintain that Wilson was a better player in 2017, and I think coaching had something to do with his regression.

Remember too, that last year Golding was supposed to be coaching ILBs and assisting the DC - not being the actual DC at his age/experience level - which he basically was by midyear. Golding was in a tough spot, but of all the folks who dropped the ball last year, he's not one.

And to anyone who would say, "Hey, he's (Golding) got to do that this year." Yes, he does. But this year, we have one more assistant on that side of the ball, and Saban went out and got a crapload of experience coaches, including two assistants who are former defensive coordinators, both of whom also carry the title of associate head coach and who are from the Saban tree. Golding has much, much, MUCH more help on that side of the ball from the coaching staff than anyone had last year.

I guess I just assumed you were talking about Golding and not the entire staff since you brought up your pitching coach in baseball. My bad

No worries.

Your point is still pertinent, though. I'm happy to have him if he's the golden boy many say he is. But until it's proven, Golding's ability to coach ILBs and coordinate a defense is still an unknown and up in the air.

We'll see, but I like this staff much better, and I expect to get more out of the 1s and 2s on defense this year.

I have to say that I'm extremely wary. I didn't like the fact that he had the playcalling duties for half of the season.

I'm choosing to trust the GOAT, and the fact that he had a behind-the-scenes view of exactly what happened last year, and if he believes Golding was the one to keep and promote, then I'm going to rest easy and trust that.

Also, it should always be remembered that if we stay healthy at OLB and Corner last year, the season likely goes and ends very differently.

I mean, he's coordinated on various levels with very good success for 8 years prior to Bama.

He actually came to Bama with more playcalling experience than Kirby Smart or Tosh Lupoi by a large margin.

Position wise? Saban is trying get lightning to strike twice forcing a DB guy like Golding to coach ILBs like he did with Kirby. Results haven't been promising so far, nor has recruiting in the middle.

Hopefully shaking off some "recruiters" for actual coaches will do the team well...

Did anyone notice the comment Todd McShay made after Buggs was drafted? He said that Buggs was one of the players involved with the issues on defense later in the season. He made it sound like he knew about some negative stuff going on behind the scenes. Kind of amazing we made it as far as we did.

Alabama has had 5 or more players drafted for the 10th year in a row.

10 straight years with a first round pick.

3 straight years with 10 or more players drafted.

All these streaks will continue next year. Unprecedented stuff in the 7 round draft era (1994-present).

Hopefully modern medicine will fix him up. It's quite amazing what they can do these days.

Mosley, Ingram, and El Tractorcito ranked 71, 82, and 99 on the NFL Networks top 100

Expect Eddie Jackson and Julio Jones way up there. Donta Hightower would be a snub
