McShay’s latest mock
Here is the link. If you have Disney+ you should have espn plus now. The package with both plus Hulu is almost the same price as Disney+ alone. FYI

Not the complete hate piece I originally thought it would be
Alabama QB Mac Jones: Throwback or dinosaur?
The last we saw of Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, he was absolutely ripping Ohio State’s defense to shreds in the CFP National Championship in a 52-24 Alabama victory. Jones completed 36 of 45 passes for 464 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions, and he made the Buckeyes pay over and over for their ill-advised decision to stay in base defenses against the Crimson Tide’s array of targets.

I get the feeling that some of this improvising going on is a failure to execute the play as drawn up. In other words, if your a dynamic runner, you may go to the run faster under pressure. On the other hand, if your a quick thinking slow guy, you hang with the play longer
No matter how fast you are, you can think at the speed of light.
For all the Mac Detractors there are Mac lovers out there. He is a quick thinker who gets the ball out fast. I feel confident he goes in the top 15. Very confident.

That article states the SEC was garbage...as a knock on Mac.
Does the writer realize the SEC bowl record?
Do these people realize their darling Trevor Lawrence played in a sh!thole conference? It's sure never mentioned.

Guess Notre Dame and Ohio State were part of the shitty SEC too.
What a bunch of crock.

Yes and no. Bootlegs are called plays that can lead to improvisation, and bootlegs are really popular in the NFL these days. The bottom line is that if you have a guy like Mahomes or Wilson at QB then a scramble drill is far more likely to produce a big play than a check down to the safety valve though. That's what makes them so dangerous, and that's why their teams practice running the scramble drill to the point that they can perfectly execute it. Once the scramble drill starts, the defense basically has to corral an extremely slippery runner before someone loses track of a receiver and gives up an 18 yard gain. And for Mahomes in particular you practically have to blindside him or he's going to get the ball out before his knee hits the ground. The guy could throw a 30 yard dart underhanded while falling down backwards.

Six Bama players projected in the first round of this 2021 NFL Mock Draft
4 - Mac Jones (Atlanta)
Jones was a better QB at Alabama than Tagovailoa and for us, he's a better NFL prospect too. He shares some similarities with Matt Ryan, whose contract will almost certainly require him to remain in Atlanta for the 2021 season.
11- Devonta Smith (NY Giants)
The Giants have a lot of needs -- edge rusher, cornerback, offensive lineman, tight end -- but it's hard to pass up on the best player in college football. Smith is an out-of-this-world talent whose only shortcoming is that he's undersized. His slight frame didn't limit his effectiveness during his Alabama career and he gives Daniel Jones an immediate downfield threat in New York.
12 - Patrick Surtain II (San Fran)
San Francisco has five cornerbacks headed for unrestricted free agency (including Richard Sherman and Jason Verrett) and two more as exclusive rights free agents. Surtain was Alabama's best CB the last two seasons and and is coming off a strong junior campaign.
15 - Jaylen Waddle (Patriots)
Waddle is a high-upside speed demon who is also a threat in the return game. The Patriots desperately need to get better at wideout and Waddle solves that problem on Day 1.
24 - Najee Harris (Steelers)
The Steelers need to beef up the O-line, but they also need to figure out how to re-establish the run. Najee Harris isn't Derrick Henry, but he has similar traits with the added ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. If Pittsburgh can find a run game, their passing offense becomes much more consistent (and less predictable).
25 - Christian Barmore (Jaguars)
Barmore was our DT1 coming into the season, took a while to get going, and then saved his best football for the final month of the season. He was absolutely dominant in 'Bama's run to the championship.

Mac is all over the place in the mocks... from top 10 to mid 2nd round.
I'd like to see him end up with New Orleans or Indianapolis.

Devonta Smith recently became the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy in nearly 30 years, and those who have seen him without pads on would likely be surprised at the extent to which he is capable of dominating opposing defenses. In that sense, the Alabama star is kind of like Tom Brady.

Anyone gonna melt when Eagles take Mac Jones at 6 and he will have to compete against Jalen Hurts for QB?

Former NFL head coach ranks Mac Jones ahead of Trevor Lawrence
quote:
June Jones, who coached the Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers, told Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports that he ranks Jones, Zach Wilson and Lawrence as the top three quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft.
June Jones values Mac Jones as the draft’s QB1 because of the former Alabama starter’s deep-ball accuracy.
“Mac’s deep-ball accuracy is probably the best that I have graded in my years of coaching quarterbacks,” the former coach told Edholm. “He’s almost at 55 percent at over 20 yards, which is unbelievable.”
