If Cecil says it then it's sourced. That's crazy, I would have never thought that, but I trust Cecil on stuff like this.

This is my concern for the season. Not the players as much but the coaching staff. Yes I want football back sooner then later but do not want to risk a coach for it.

We’re over 90 percent renewals for the year, and we’re really fortunate for that. Our goal, hopefully, is to be able to have all the season-ticket holders in there and many more.

Right here it is. I heard the same thing going out at UNC and especially to the season ticket holders. They need those renewals and many programs not as fortunate as a school like UA are not even close to that number.

I was told the athletic departments are trying to promote confidence to sell the tickets and renewals but the coaching staffs are not confident their will be a fall season, especially for fans in the stands. Considering all the major ticket vendors have changed their refund policy for the virus and some(like Stubhub) are facing class action suits, I think it is wrong for them to pedal something they are not sure will happen and then hide behind the vendors to take care of it.

quote:

“But I think in the coming weeks, in the next month, we’re going to have to get more granular on what that actual number will be. I think towards the end of July, early parts of August is when decision time will have to take place and see what it looks like. But we have a lot of scenarios that we’re putting together of what it can look like, both from how many people are there and what that looks like for our department and the impact of that from a financial standpoint, too.”

It is great to have a plan in place and I hope it happens, but nothing is concrete yet.

Ivy League just cancelled all sports until 2021. Football probably postponed until spring.

I think the FBS teams will play this fall, but with a more regional schedule.

The SEC teams would only play teams in the SEC footprint.

For Bama, USC and Kent St. would be out. Bama has already been in talks with TCU to replace USC. As for a replacement for Kent St, Troy has an open date the day the Bama/Kent St is scheduled and Troy would have to cancel a game with a Big Ten team that they open against.

Would be nice to play Troy, suck to miss out on playing USC again.

The optics of the Ivy doing that isn’t good. It opens the door and some school presidents even at P5 schools will say that if Harvard doesn’t think it’s a good idea to have sports, we shouldn’t either. You may see some of the weaker bottom feeders in the P5 follow their lead. Not many, but I could see 8 or so P5 programs do it and it really will cull some of the G5. The Ivies may be the pebble that starts an avalanche.

More troubling might be what Ohio St and North Carolina did. If Ohio State pulls the plug--not good. And we are starting to see the fallout of what this will cost us. Stanford announced the sports they will drop yesterday.

Here we go...

The Big Ten is expected to announce today that it will go with a conference-only football schedule for this fall, a person with direct knowledge situation tells @TheAthleticCFB.

Tweet from Nicole Auberbach. Cecil says SEC will probably soon follow suit.

I’d be shocked if we even have conference games. This will kill all of the “paycheck “ schools

I have a bad feeling this is only the first step to the whole thing being scrapped.

The thinking is it gives everyone better flexibility to schedule around teams who have 20 kids out with the virus. They will omit the OOC games in the hopes that the 3-4 open dates will allow them to move games around as necessary to get them all in.

Here are my questions: if this is the path the P5 takes, will the SEC and ACC try to play 9 conference games to equate to the other leagues? Will there be pressure to? Do the playoffs still happen?

If they have a season, I think we might see a 9 or 10 game conference season.

Bama has six million on the line with that season opener. That is a big loss if that game doesn't get played.
