Our staff was able to view the OLB today during Alabama's first practice (we'll have a complete insider reporter later today along with highlights) and Terrell Lewis looked to be moving close to 100% during agility drills.

Cameron Latu changes his number
Cameron Latu’s switch from outside linebacker to tight end appears to be even more cemented. Not only is the redshirt freshman listed as a tight end on Alabama’s online roster, he will also now wear the No. 81 this season after wearing No. 20 last year.
Latu came to Alabama as No. 113 player and No. 5 weakside defensive end in the 2018 class. The 6-foot-5, 246-pound redshirt freshman played in just two games last season, recording a single tackle. Due to its depth concerns at tight end, Alabama elected to switch him to offense this spring.
Latu played both offense and defense at Olympus High School in Salt Lake City. According to his former coach Aaron Whitehead, he was clocked in the 4.6-range in the 40-yard dash during high school. Late recorded 10 receptions for 168 yards and touchdown during his senior season.
“He’s going to be really good at whatever he does,” tight end Miller Forristall said this spring. “I think he can play tight end, he can play outside linebacker, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays at tight end. He’s going to be really, really good no matter what he does. He’s done great with his transition to the room, really good guy. I love having him in there.”
Alabama adds graduate transfer OL to roster
Alabama has added graduate transfer Landon Dickerson to its official roster. Dickerson, a redshirt junior who joins the Crimson Tide from Florida State, will wear No. 69 this season.
Dickerson, 6-foot-6, 308 pounds, joined Alabama in June but had not been officially announced by the Crimson Tide. He will be able to play immediately this season.
Last year Dickerson started two games at both right and left tackle before missing the rest of the season with an injury. The setback was the latest in an injury-riddled career. He started seven games as a true freshman in 2016 before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. In 2017, he started four games before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
Dickerson should provide depth for an offensive line which returns three starters from last year in Jedrick Wills Jr., Alex Leatherwood and Deonte Brown. The Crimson Tide also brings back Matt Womack, who started 14 games at right tackle in 2017. Brown will miss the first four games of the season as he serves out the remainder of his NCAA suspension
Dickerson, a former four-star recruit, was rated as the No. 43 player in the nation for the 2016 class.
Another interesting addition to Alabama's roster
Alabama has added walk-on receiver Drew Kobayashi to its official roster. Kobayashi played with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa at St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound receiver recorded 1,359 yards receiving and 13 touchdown catches over his final two seasons in high school. Kobayashi will wear No. 85 for the Crimson Tide

Senior defensive back Shyheim Carter and senior tight end Giles Amos are both graduating. So are former Crimson Tide All-American linebacker Barry Krauss, who was a first-round NFL draft pick in 1979, and Mike Bernier, who was Alabama’s punter the final eight games of last season.
With Carter and Amos graduating, the Tide will have six players on this year’s team who have already graduated.

Football is back in the air. Alabama is set to kick off its fall camp today as it holds its first practice. Before the Crimson Tide returns to the field, BamaInsider will take a look at each of the position groups. We continue our series by examining the secondary positions.
Biggest question: Where will Shyheim Carter play?
Last season, Nick Saban referred to Shyheim Carter as a “Jack of all trades,” while noting the defensive back can line up at every position of the secondary. Alabama’s secondary this season will likely hinge on where the head coach decides to insert the senior.
Carter is Alabama’s highest-graded returner after earning an 88.4 mark from Pro Football Focus last season. Serving as the Star out of the nickel package, the 6-foot 191-pound defensive back finished tied for second on the team with 10 pass deflections and two interceptions, both of which he returned for touchdowns.
Carter knows Alabama’s defense perhaps better than any player on the team, making him a natural fit to man the Star position again. However, the early departure of Deionte Thompson created a hole at safety next to Xavier McKinney. Carter was limited this spring due to a sports hernia injury but was seen spending time with the safeties during practice. Now that he’s back to 100 percent, it will be interesting to watch where Alabama lines him up this fall.
If Carter does indeed make the switch to safety, he would likely be replaced by either Trevon Diggs or Patrick Surtain II at Star. That domino effect could lead to Josh Jobe landing a starting role at cornerback. It’s worth noting Saban spoke highly of the sophomore not too long ago at SEC Media Days.
“Josh Jobe has made a tremendous amount of improvement and has matured very nicely,” Saban said. “And we view him as a guy that is a potential starter and a guy that is playing in a way that, throughout the spring, that we have confidence that if he’s a starter, he can be very successful, and we can be very successful with him playing corner for us.”

On a muggy Friday afternoon, Alabama’s fall football practice schedule began in Tuscaloosa.
As the first workout, NCAA rules dictate a helmets and shorts practice before easing into shells and eventually full pads. A quick rundown of what we noticed in the media viewing window.
-- Florida State graduate transfer Landon Dickerson was on the field for the first time after recently completing his undergrad degree in Tallahassee.
-- A few notable players were not out there. As AL.com reported Thursday, tight end Miller Forristall and defensive lineman LaBryan Ray were recovering from summer injuries. Neither were spotted on the field Friday.
-- Linebacker Terrell Lewis was full go for the first time in quite a while. He missed last season with a torn ACL and was limited throughout spring practice. With the departure of at outside linebacker, the return of a potential star like Lewis would be huge.
-- With the tight ends, it looked like Major Tennison had some kind of wrap on his leg. With depth a concern there, every health issue would be a concern.
-- The quarterbacks looked solid.
-- This was also the first practice for the rest of the signing class who was not enrolled for spring practice. It looked like Ishmael Sopsher, the defensive lineman, missed a few drills during the media viewing window with what appeared to be heat-related issues.
-- It was also the first look at No. 1 running back recruit Trey Sanders. On first glance, he looks more compact as a runner compared to Najee Harris and Brian Robinson. Sanders is listed at 6-0, 214.
-- Nick Saban looked fresh and probably more mobile with a three-month old hip.
-- The first four up on the defensive line drills: Raekwon Davis, D.J. Dale, Tevita Musika and Justin Eboigbe.
-- Next up is fan day on Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The open practice runs from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. CT.

Alabama Football Opens 2019 Fall Camp
Two-hour session at Thomas-Drew Practice Fields officially kicks off the 2019 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team opened its 2019 fall camp on Friday afternoon with a two-hour practice in helmets and shorts at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
Friday began a series of 20 workouts for the Crimson Tide as it prepares for the season-opening contest with Duke in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The match-up between the Tide and the Blue Devils is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
Camp opened at 2:30 p.m. with the entire squad taking part in drills during the two-hour practice. The Tide will follow today's practice with the team's annual Fan Day on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The team's 2:30 p.m. practice on Saturday is open to the public with players and coaches available for autographs for 45 minutes beginning at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The Alabama Crimson Tide returns 17 starters and 43 lettermen for the 2019 season. On offense 19 letterwinners and seven starters return while the defense will have 19 lettermen and another seven starters back on the field, with five starting specialists returning, as well.
The Tide has claimed five of the last seven SEC titles and five of the last 10 national championships. Across the last 11 seasons under head coach Nick Saban, Alabama owns a 139-15 (.903) record, including an 79-9 (.879) mark in regular season conference play.

The Crimson Tide will hold an open practice in Bryant-Denny Stadium from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Players and coaches will be available for autographs following practice on the field beginning at approximately 4:45 p.m.
At 1 p.m., the first 150 fans in line at Gate 25 will receive numbered color-coded wristbands for early entrance to the post-practice autograph session. Fans receiving wristbands will need to report to Gate 25 (South field entrance) at 4 p.m. to begin lining up for the autograph session.
Fans may enter the stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. through gates 9 and 19 and occupy the west side lower bowl (sections A-N). The open practice, which is slated to start at 2:30 p.m., is scheduled to last approximately two hours. For security purposes, all items are subject to inspection as fans enter the stadium for both the practice and Fan Day activities.
Following practice, the Crimson Tide football team, coaching staff and head coach Nick Saban will be available for autographs on the field for approximately 45 minutes. The gate to the field will be open once the autograph session has been set up. In an effort to facilitate as many autographs in the time allowed, fans will be limited to one item per person for autographs, and no posed photographs will be permitted.
Select concession stands on the west side (field and mezzanine levels) will be open. Alabama merchandise will also be sold on Saturday and 3,000 autograph posters will be given away.
Parking for Fan Day can be found in the West ten Hoor area of campus. There are two parking decks as well as surface lots that are available for your convenience. Parking for persons with disabilities is available on a first come, first served basis in the Wallace Wade Lot. No special accommodations will be made for recreational vehicles (RVs) on campus. All RVs should park at the Northington Lot near University Mall. Fans can go to RollTide.com for updates and other pertinent information.
