Well if it is true it’s a business decision. If Mac and Waddle are not able to play we should wait lol.

Alabama's Nick Saban, Greg Byrne test positive for COVID-19 (BOL)
quote:

Alabama head football coach Nick Saban and director of athletics Greg Byrne have tested positive for COVID-19, the university announced in a release on Wednesday afternoon.

"Both immediately left the facility and went to their homes to self-isolate after receiving that information," said Dr. Jimmy Robinson and Jeff Allen in a joint statement. "At this point in time, the positive tests are limited to those two individuals. All individuals who are considered high risk contacts have been notified and will follow quarantine guidelines. We will follow the SEC’s Return to Activity and Medical Guidance Task Force Protocol for testing asymptomatic positives."

The Crimson Tide still practiced Wednesday with offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian taking over the reins. Saban is still set to address reporters via a Wednesday evening Zoom call.

Statement from Nick Saban

“I found out earlier this afternoon that I had tested positive for COVID-19. I immediately left work and isolated at home. At this time, I do not have any symptoms relative to COVID, and I have taken another PCR test to confirm my diagnosis. I informed our team of my positive test at 2 p.m. today on a Zoom call and let them know offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will oversee preparations at the complex while I work from home.”

Statement from Greg Byrne

“Today, I received notice that my COVID-19 test from this morning came back positive. Upon hearing the news, I immediately entered self-isolation and will remain at home and follow all guidelines. We’ve been diligent about mask wearing and social distancing from the start and want to continue to encourage you all to take the necessary precautions to help stop the spread of this virus for yourself and those around you.”

The second-ranked Crimson Tide (3-0) is set to play host to the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (3-0) on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will air at 7 p.m. CT on CBS.

The SEC has already postponed two games this week due to positive COVID-19 cases. Both the Missouri-Vanderbilt and Florida-LSU matchups have been rescheduled for Dec. 12.

Insider who watches practices:
quote:

When can Saban return…several ways. Could make UGA game...

1)The most logical one is 10 days from testing positive with three days of no symptoms day 8,9,10. He would be cleared Friday before Tennessee.

2)He can test three straight days and get three negatives. This would mean he had a false positive. In this case, he would be cleared around noon Saturday in time for GA Game.

3)If he develops symptoms at the end of the 10 days, he will have to quarantine until he is symptom free for 3 days. This can take as long as 28 days.

Fun fact: Saban was great with players today and had them laughing and loose. Saban is master of knowing when to yell and when to be funny.

Rule prevents Nick Saban from communicating if he is quarantined (247)

Rule:
quote:

Alex Scarborough @AlexS_ESPN · 29m

Nick Saban wondered today whether he could have communication with coaches during a game, saying it was something they’d look into. Well, I looked into it and was referred to this which makes clear that’s not possible.

It appears remote communication is limited to a maximum number of headsets used by coaching staff who must be present in the sideline area or designated pressbox coaches booth.

Why? What is the reason and logic behind this rule? Coaches have access to TV broadcast in the Coaches box too, right?

my guess it is for other reasons not related to Covid. Like Bill Bellicheck being able to call in and tell NS what he is seeing and makes a recommendation.

Monday defense update after practice, replacing Battle...

The truth… With Battle out first half, coaches are looking at two options so far.

First option 2 Surtain and 28 Jobe corner, 3 Wright and 29 Hellam safeties, 13 Moore star.

Second option 2 Surtain and 28 Jobe corner, 13 Moore and 29 Hellams safeties , 14 Branch star.

Team is focused!!

Any more practice news from the last couple of days as to what the lineup will be with Battle out?

Sarkisian basically serving as an interim HC this weekend has now put the thought in my mind that there is a real chance that Sark will be the next Alabama head coach after Saban.

He could be but I think all teams had to designate someone who would coach in the place of the HC as it relates to Covid protocols

Would seem to be the easier option in having to plug in one player vs two.
