The blocking up front on offense should be great this year losing only one starter and returning all of the tight ends. Plus adding the transfer from North Carolina.

Marvin wouldn’t be starting for me.. lol

Norvell and Marvin Wilson (team captain) both should've talked with each other before talking to any reporter or saying anything on twitter.

The kid isn't the one who lied to the media.
Norvell is the only one at fault and the press release is obviously him trying to spin the narrative to not look so bad.

So did he send a message to each player or every player and what is the difference in those two?

A message to each player implies a specific message to that player (singular message to a singular player). A message to every player implies one message but every player got that same message (singular message to multiple players).

It seems silly to expect Norvell to send separate text messages (each worded uniquely?) to all players. The important thing is that he reached out to them and invited them to talk to him about any concerns and feelings they may be having. His mistake was not being more careful about his choice of words when talking to the reporter. He made it sound like he'd contacted and had a conversation with every single player, which wasn't true. Imo, he could've and should've held a meeting with the entire team and his staff to earnestly listen to their concerns and feelings.

Well he did lie when he said:
"He went back and forth individually with every player this weekend".
This was a blatant lie because we all know he didn't. When the players unified and reacted in anger it was because felt betrayed. That is reasonable.
Norvell did a good job by actually meeting the players, apologizing and even encouraging them so he didn't lose his team and won them back. If would have been a huge mistake to continue to double down, not meet with them and let them talk, etc.
Bad initial mistake but great response; apologizing and hearing them out. Now they will be 100% behind him.

Why would he lie? It’s beyond me that he would make such a huge mistake over something that he should have actually done. How can any parent or kid trust a guy that will openly lie like that? I

Good recap of what happened. I agree that he lied. He clearly overstated and exaggerated what he'd actually done by saying he'd had conversations with every player. I'm glad they got things worked out. Those players and he need each other's honesty, trust and support.

I’m so tired of everything being knit picked. My gosh, people just find things to be outraged about. Folks need to get a life

Agreed. People are just looking for anything to be offended about. I'm not a Dabo fan but that shirt is not offensive in any way. This shite is ridiculous.

Dabo, in his position, should know better than to wear that t-shirt. The "Black lives matter" motto protesting racist police brutality isn't something to even indirectly make light of in any manner, especially for someone who gets paid $Ms as HC of a football team that's predominantly comprised of young black men. He and his staff should be leading and mentoring their players well, in part via their own core values and their own behaviors. That's why Dabo wearing that t-shirt was inappropriate.

Well when your team is built of 85% black athletes and I'm sure some are from the inner city a lot of them are going to have an issue with it and they should. Just seems he would be more considerate just with all of the backlash he is taking recently.

As a Black man I believe these coaches should teach these Black athletes especially everything isn't about you and don't coddle them. One of the most toxic features of Black American culture is codependency which fosters an entitled mentality. I think Dabo shouldn't apologize and take the opportunity to address what is real cultural/racial disrespect from what is not.
