Alabama could start the season without one of its best overall players.
Redshirt sophomore catcher Sam Praytor jammed his thumb in a scrimmage this past weekend while sliding into a base. It remains to be seen if he will be able to play in the opener.
“It’s a little too early in the week for me to know exactly what that means in the short term,” Bohannon said Monday. “We’ll have to see how he responds to treatment this week. But over the long haul, he’ll be fine.”
Last season, Praytor suffered a season-ending arm injury in the first game of the series with Ball State. He played in six games with five starts prior to his injury and was able to redshirt.
Should Praytor miss Game 1 and Brett Auerbach has to catch, who fill in at third base?
“Zane Denton’s done a good job over at third base,” Bohannon said. “He’s going to play a lot over there, whether it’s Game 1 or Game 2 or Game 3 or whatever. He’s had a really good fall and preseason, and he’s going to play a lot this year and do really well.”

Northeastern is a solid program for a small school in the Northeast. They play in a warm weather mid-major conference and have been very good the last 5 years

2022 RHP Kolten Smith committed to Alabama on Thursday evening. (BOL, TW)
"The UA staff is really excited about this guy. They believe he can be an SEC weekend starter and you guys know how important that is. He camped in January and UA beat out FSU and NC State, among others, for his commitment. Alabama assistant coach Jason Jackson was the main guy here and is doing a good job from what I can tell on the recruiting trail."

So it looks like 3 freshmen in the line up and the pitcher as a freshman. Wow! I guess we will see if the "throw them in the deep water" way will work

What was Jarvis' story? I assume Bo had a relationship with his family from his brother that played at Auburn, but he wasn't highly recruited at all - I assume he just didn't play the circuit?

I didn't know that he was AU guys brother. He was one of the lowest ranked players on the roster. Not that that means anything. I'm interested to see if Austin cracks the lineup. He was the highest ranked recruit.
