So
Smith/Shamblin/Viper Friday
Prielipp/Jean/Green and maybe Viper Saturday?

I like where we’re at

Phenomenal job by Freeman and Green tonight to really set us up for the rest of the weekend.

Smith needs to figure out how to stretch it to 6-7 innings tomorrow.

I read back and see y'all all jacked about something that led to a win, but what happened?

Lot of stuff - we won on a Diodati 2B in the 10th, though

our starting pitcher had a bad 4th inning and finished with 6 ER through 4 and should have never taken the mound to start the 5th. He gave up 2 hits right away. and pitched one ball to the third batter of the 5th and was pulled. Bad decision by Bo to not bring a reliever in

We had some questionable at bats. Guys swinging at stuff way out of the strike zone but looking at good stuff for a called strike 3. We had a couple of questionable plays by a few outfielders and a horrible throwing error by our SS. Who has 9 for the year. OUr 1 and two batters were 2 for 10 with wilson having 3 K's. And some of those K's were him swinging at bad pitches and letting good ones go. So that may answer some of the negative comments. OUr two relief pitchers were outstanding.

Agree that Ras was left out too long. That was obvious.

Other than that — we’re young. Guys are going to make mistakes at the plate.

Wilson
Hamiter
Denton

All had bad appearances at the plate last night but they also put together timely hits in other ABs

It was frustrating to see Denton strike out in the 3rd with a pretty poor AB but refreshing to see Sam and Dio pick him up with back to back RBI singles
With two outs.

All in all, every starter other than Rose (bless his heart) got a hit last night.

We’re pretty much exactly where we expected to be coming into the year right now and appear to be trending in the right direction.

In his previous start Ras went a career long 7.1 innings - I’m sure Coach Bo was trying to see how much he could get out of him before going to the bullpen. Gotta admit I was nervous when Freeman came out - he’s been good and he’s been not so good at times. What I love most about this win is it was a true team victory. When one of our best pitchers struggled, the bullpen (yes, the bullpen) bailed him out. When some of our more consistent batters struggled, other guys came through. Diodati didn’t exactly have a stellar night at the plate but he had it when it counted . It was jubilation in the Joe last night and that’s what I’ll remember. You can’t win them all if you don’t win the first one. You can’t win them all if you don’t win the second one. Let’s win the second one tonight. Roll Tide!
