Back story to the return of Dixieland Delight?

Lot's of discussion about DD coming back, but I haven't seen this connection made in the media, but I believe there's truth to this:
Saban got a lot of scorn in the media, especially national, for his remarks after the ULL game criticizing the students for not showing up and the atmosphere not being what it used to be.
Yet the talking heads often acknowledge that Saban's real audience when addressing the media is his players.
Lost in most of the discussion was the fact that, before Saban had said anything, a few players had already posted comments and photos on Twitter, obviously not happy with the students. If a few were posting on Twitter, you know it had to be talked about in the locker room.
No coach knows the mood in his locker room better than Saban. In his remarks to the media, Saban said they would look at doing something to address the student attendance problem. I think this was just another way of Saban telling his players, in front of the whole country, that he has their backs, and he has zero f**ks to give about what the media might say.
And so here we are. Sure, kudos to Byrne for agreeing to do this, but I don't think for one minute that this was Byrne's idea. Maybe it was. But it's no coincidence that Terry Saban and Damien Harris are in that video.
And I think the result will be that the students section will be packed until the end tomorrow...well, at least until Dixieland Delight.
Maybe I'm making a bigger deal about it than it is, but I think this whole thing is a lot more than Byrne just waking up one morning and thinking, "Hey, I think I'll bring back Dixieland Delight" to keep the students in the seats until the end.

I don't like hearing the F word, but I would prefer that to another ugly rap "song."

The students don't go to the games anymore, so it doesn't really matter

Lots of fans and players have been vocal over the past year on twitter about DD and it has been directed at Byrne. Harris has tweeted about it several times with Greg tagged in it. Shank has also been very vocal about it. Greg replied to a tweet last spring and said he would look into it. Do not think that he had little to do with the idea.

You are. People who care this much about a mediocre 40 year old country song are pretty damn stupid.
ETA - not saying that OP is stupid, but the people who raised a ruckus over this certainly are.

Exactly. This is an issue for imbeciles. No current students were even in school the last time DD was played.
Bunch of fricking dullards who get some endorphin rush because they all know when to say "frick" at the same time to grandpa's music.
It's ridiculous that this song is even a topic of conversation.

Come on, now.
The song isn't that good.

I don't understand the hate for this song. It was a tradition that the student body loved and it wasn't because the F word was in it for a two word line. It was something everyone looked forward to during games and had the largest amount of energy entering the fourth.
Imagine the school takes away Rammer Jammer because the student body chants "We just beat the hell out of you" super angrily after the kick six. Then you sing it a-capella for a full season while the administration refuses to play it. Then, two years later, they announce it's coming back under the idea that you have to say "roll tide" instead of "we just beat the hell out of you".
Greg Byrne even stated "Against the wall" insinuates it isn't consensual when arguing it should just be "roll tide" for one line. Which is fricking ridiculous.
