I don't know why he has a bat in these post game lockerroom celebrations, but I am a fan of it regardless.

It's been fun to watch, and if they make the tournament...oh boy, look out!

Just think how good we would be right now if our former coach was not fired?
I keed...............I keed

I love basketball, and grant tried to kill my Bama hope. Cheers to Avery for restoring my faith again.

I'm worried as frick someone will come after him - lock him up Battle.

I never felt Grant connected with the players, total opposite with Avery. Very important for a coach.

You can rest assured people are going to come after him. If you've got a coach nobody's coming after, then you don't want him either.
He's probably here as long as his son plays. After that is when you're going to really need to start worrying.

Not just the players, I never really felt like Grant fully embraced the University. Nearly every time I see CAJ on TV he throws in a Roll Tide. He seems to really enjoy building this team.

This might just be my homeristic wishful thinking but I get the vibe that he wants to be our Coach K.. He wants to build a legacy. Again, might be wishful thinking on my part

Hopefully he'll do like coach Saban. Ignore other job offers and want to build a dynasty and become one of the greatest of all time. I know that's hard to do, but if anyone can do it, it's Avery Johnson!

Realistic expectations like making the tournament would be more logical.

Tourney 3/4 years with one of those years getting to the S16 and I'm ecstatic. I don't think that's an unreasonable hope.

He can and should do better than that.
There's no reason at all Alabama can't at least return to Wimp Sanderson levels of performance. In 12 years, Wimp made the NCAAs 10 times (plus 1 NIT), had 9 20 win seasons, and 6 Sweet 16 trips.
IMO, that should be the benchmark - a consistent top tier SEC team and tournament regular with the added hope that CAJ can get past the Sweet 16 hurdle that always tripped up Wimp.
Edited to add: When Wimp did it, the SEC was a lot better in hoops than it is today.

We can only hope Avery stays for 20 years. I can't even put into words how much I hope he does.

He's the thing, even if CAJ does what Wimp did, he's in a different era. While we as Bama fans may not expect that kind of success now, the bar for Bama Basketball will continue to rise. If CAJ sustains the kind of success he's currently having and improves on that, he'll have to exceed expectations the following years. So right now, even though we say "just making the sweet 16 will be nice", eventually we'll start getting weary and start having doubts if he will ever get over the hump and get Alabama to the elite 8.
This of course all depends on how well CAJ does from here on out. The standard is low right now, but as his career progresses at UA, the more we as fans will demand.

Not saying he's gonna build a dynasty and become one of the greatest, I'm saying I hope he shoots for that goal bc then good things will come

If teams come after Coach Avery and he decides to stay, then he deserves a raise and the promise of a new Coleman Coliseum. We have to show him that we are serious and committed.

One of the 'hype' videos released before the season had Johnson saying, "I wouldn't come to Alabama if I didn't think we could make it to the Final Four" (paraphrasing)
