I listened to the press conference on my lunch break. Just watched the video. I'm PUMPED. I think he's exactly what Bama basketball needs. I'd play for that guy. My 18 year old self would have run through a brick wall for that guy. I can't wait to see the team. Looks like I'm going to have to make some trips down to coleman this year.

You know, I wonder how Pearl will respond to Avery. I think Pearl is a very good coach but he gets a lot of mileage out of his "charisma." Thus far at AU, he's really been the only show in town. He looked really good/cool in contrast to Grant and I think that comparison kind of fed the mystique. He hasn't really had to compete for oxygen with anybody else.

Avery could end up being a total bust, but one thing that is for sure is he will be very visible. How will Pearl counter that? Will be interesting to see it play out.

Hell, they could actually benefit from each other.

I'd be down for a whole new fresh start. New jerseys. New court. New seat placements. Let's really do the damn thing.

From UA Athletics:

In correlation with the hiring of new men’s basketball head coach Avery Johnson, the University of Alabama athletics TIDE PRIDE/Ticket Office has announced that it will begin accepting deposits for new season ticket orders for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

Fans interested in becoming season ticket holders can now place a $50.00 deposit that will be applied towards their season ticket application. Aimed directly towards new customers, fans can place the deposit online at rolltide.com, via phone (205) 348-2262, or by visiting the Coleman Coliseum box office. Those purchasing online will have the ability to select a seating preference (i.e aisle seating, mid court, or TIDE PRIDE seating).

Fans that elect to take part in this offer will receive their season ticket invoices and info sheets in late-August or early-September. Seat allocations are scheduled to begin in September with season tickets set to be shipped in late-October.

This offer is for new orders only, as current season ticket holders will receive their regular renewal forms in August.

I get student tickets , but here's for the rest of you.

It's nice to see our basketball coach promoting our football program. It might eventually get people excited about football again. #basketballschool

If he can coach and recruit half as good as he can control a room we are in for some great times ahead.

In the next couple of years, I hope we get a chance to meet WSU in the tourney and beat them like a drum.

Could be conjecture based on AJ obviously knowing him pretty well (or, I suppose, true that there's interest for the same reason). Seems odd that he would hire someone from A&M though.

Yeah I'm seeing that now too. It would definitely make recruiting even more interesting.
