I hope Hurts plays his way into the Heisman race along with Tua. Hurts is a great leader and role model. 100% class and the definition of a team player.

Except you are assuming Jalen would be a starter for 2 years at OU. I hate to burst some bubbles on here but he will be lucky IMO to be the starter at the end of this season. He could not hold off Tua as a true freshman and I doubt he will hold off Rattler. Many OU fans want Rattler to start now. And if he is the answer to OU why has Riley yet to names Hurts the starter?
Hurts has one year and one year only to prove he has the talent for the NFL. This is his shot to make it.

That's true, I am assuming he would start. But what's not an assumption is that he gave up one of those years of eligibility by staying last year. In the wake of Barnett, I think that's a big deal.
We don't make it to the playoffs without him.
I would be surprised if he makes it to the NFL. I think he's got a bright future as a coach however.

I loathe Oklahoma. Hope they get whipped all season long.

Man after my own heart.
It's OK to cheer for your alumni (or not, which I can tell some here aren't, but that's an argument for another time), but the part about college football we all like are the "feel good" stories that come from this being (ever so slightly) a somewhat amateur sport. The blind USC long snapper. Taylor Trent and Purdue knocking off Ohio State. Jalen Hurts handling his benching, not transferring, and in the process, burning his redshirt, with class that I know I would not have had at his age 7-8 years ago.
We aren't watching college football for the competition - half of the games we play would be unwatchable if we played our second string.
Take this in stride, don't take it in stride, IDGAF, the issue with the state of Alabama (not alone, Louisiana and others are guilty as well), is that Alabama football is quite literally, the most important thing in the entire state. It gets the money, it gets the coverage, it gets priority over everything else. There are some people here in their friggin' 40's that religously, on a day-to-day basis, stalk 17 & 18 year old kids to see if they like their favorite university. I get tuning in on signing day, but, that's purely bizarre.
Jalen Hurts is everything that is right about the University of Alabama. It is my hope that all graduates go off, and are successful. His goodbye piece in the tribune says it all. If you can't openly hope he does well while simultaneously hoping Alabama does well, you need to see a psychiatrist. Plain and simple.

Rooting for OU unless Bama needs them to lose or if the game has serious Heisman implications. Jalen is a bama legend

I hope that Jalen has some success, but nothing that hinders my team from their goal.
IF he struggles any or OU drops a game or two, then I wouldn't be surprised in the least that Riley goes with one of his younger QBs and takes his lumps. You have more invested in the younger kids than what you have in a transfer with only 1 season to play.

All this thread has done is remind me of how miserable the old Jalen/Tua stuff was

And, in retrospect, I think it's obvious which side of the argument had the most dipshits.
Anyway, I'll say again, I don't care how he does. I wish him a happy life, and appreciate him as a young man, and for being a team player. As far as Oklahoma, frick 'em.

A lot of QBs wouldn't be able to "hold off Tua." Also, considering that Jalen clearly developed as better passer(how much, we'll see) than he was in year 1 and 2, whatever happened in 2017 is kind of irrelevant.
Rattler is a good prospect, but if it took Tua a year to unseat 2017 Jalen(whatever your opinion of that may be,) then I find it highly unlikely that Rattler will unseat 2019 Jalen.

I am not calling anybody out here but I just don't understand how anybody from the Bama fan base could actively root for Jalen Hurts to fail at Oklahoma. Some of you seem to be doing just that even if you didn't come out and say it. I doubt anybody here wanted him benched in favor of Tua in 17 as much as I did but watching him put the team first last year while still competing till the very end earned his name near the top of my favorites list and that was before he single handedly was responsible for winning the SEC and a spot in the playoffs. He could have bolted after the Tua comeback against Georgia or easily after spring practice. He knew he had lost the job. I don't care for Oklahoma but I do care for Jalen and I hope he wins every game except for one.

I guess we will see by the end of the season.

I think he would be great in the CFL with that wide arse field. Some of his vaunted roooollll outs might come to something.
Rack up a couple of mill and get into coaching.

Maybe you guys didn't notice how much Jalen improved in the passing game last year. He beat Georgia with his arm for the most part.
