Baltimore Sun article
He was the anchor of a defense (edit) that didn’t surrender a point? Good Lord.

Lee was the personification of execution at St. Frances, which leaned on him to spark a defense that did not surrender a point during the 2018 regular season and finished No. 4 in USA Today’s Super 25. He finished his senior year with 61 tackles, five forced fumbles, 4½ sacks, three pass deflections and one fumble recovery.

Looks like it. Here is another article.

Guess I’ll change my original to “defense.”

Lee, an Under Armour All-American headed to Alabama, is rated the No. 5 inside linebacker in the country by 247 Sports and is the No. 1 overall player in the Maryland Class of 2019. A student of the game, he led a Panthers defense that did not yield a point during the regular season, a key to their No. 4 ranking in USA Today's Top 25.

One more impressive thing, and why I think he will do well under Coach Saban. The kid appears to be disciplined and does things the right way (which Coach loves in a player):
quote:
Russell pointed out that Lee’s work ethic has been instilled by his father, who is a Montgomery County police officer, and his mother, who works in cybersecurity and has three college degrees.
“He just does things the right way, and that’s what the Alabama coaches have been telling us,” he said. “Some of the feedback we’ve been getting from them is, they’ve just been super impressed with him and the type of man he’s becoming and how hard he works. So I’m pretty excited for Shane and the opportunity he’s going to have.”

That is extremely encouraging. I also saw where Surge said he is football savvy and a student of the game. I obviously would rather have had an upperclassmen like Moses lining up beside Harris since Harris is new to playing linebacker but if Lee has a handle on the scheme we might be alright after all. Thanks for sharing.

It is possible what we now have as LB starters, 2 upperclassmen, 2 raw but talented Freshman, if they can stay healthy, gain valuable experience, it could be a position of strength when November stretch run rolls around. We shall see.

what I’m hearing is Lee is a complete stud I know this isn’t the ideal situation but I’m really exited to this this unfold.

I hope the young man succeeds. Just wishing he isn’t another T. DePriest and can actually showcase sideline to sideline agility and tenacity.

Just after NSD, I made the comment that Shane Lee would end up being the class of 19’s most important signee. I got lots of downvotes.
