A couple of years ago when they had a block of additional season tickets, they were non-renewable. These are renewable.

I've never gotten an email like this. In the past, you've always had to reach out to them. And I'm not even in the middle of the pack...points-wise I'm ranked #9,225 out of 15,794 Tide Pride members.

Why do you thinks suddenly are there so many season tickets available?

"Dear......,

Thank you for your continued support. As a valued TIDE PRIDE football season ticketholder, we wanted to offer you an opportunity to purchase up to four (4) additional TIDE PRIDE season tickets. Season tickets would be offered Monday, June 14 – Friday, June 18 by Tide Totals priority points. All season tickets purchased would be renewable for future seasons. Inventory is not guaranteed and only available until exhausted.

Based on your Tide Totals priority points, you will be able to purchase season tickets on RollTide.com beginning Wednesday, June 16 at 9 a.m. CT. You will receive a reminder email the day before your purchase date. Please see the steps below on how to purchase your season tickets."

I'm going to jump on it and try to get the 4. Seems to be first come first served starting at 9:00.

Also, I was offered additional home tickets to Tennessee and LSU...that's never happened before.

Close. The EMF waves cut everyone's 1-5G off their phone. No one can respond to emails.

I was also surprised at the large number of lower bowl seats available during the seat selection a week or so ago. We were able to get some on the aisle.

I was impressed with that whole process. Much better than calling and trying to do it over the phone.

I thought about getting another season ticket, but haven't decided.

The CFB product is a poor forgery of what it once was.

What is there to be excited about heading into this season? Not just for us, but any team?

Got the same email. I thought the waiting list was like 15,000 long or something. Do they always offer available season tickets to existing ticket holders before people on the waiting list?

That number from a practical standpoint has always been fictional. I'm sure as soon as they started charging people money to stay on the wait list every year, people started dropping like flies.

Also, there are season tickets listed on StubHub right now starting at $715 plus the fee, and there are lots of them. You don't need to get on the wait list...you can always buy a season ticket package on StubHub every year.

Current members always have had first priority over the waitlist, but this is the first time they've ever sent out an unsolicited email to current members, as far as I know.

The value is about to get a helluva lot better. Home games vs. Texas, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Notre Dame will command extremely high prices. Don't be surprised when Texas, Notre Dame, and Ohio State tickets start between $500 and $1,000 on the resale market.

2023...Texas and LSU will sell for more than the cost of the entire season ticket package, including donation.

People are still not comfortable sitting in close proximity in crowds . Covid-19 has put that fear in many. It may take a couple of years to calm people down. So fear free Bama die-hards take the opportunity and grab your season tickets this year.

Every game on TV has a much larger impact than any Covid worries.

I think there are a few things going on and they all kind of overlap each other. One, the practice of buying more tickets than people need just to re-sell them on the secondary market to recoup their costs is no longer the financial boon it was. Two, I think Covid last season made some people realize they really weren't missing much watching the games at home. Third, the home schedule has become so watered down there is usually only one or two good games to go to.

ETA - I think the ESPN contract is contributing some as well as kickoff times at 11 in the morning or 8 at night are horrible for the fan experience.

Have to remember that the lack of a tax write off for non businesses related to the seat donation is a factor as well.

Businesses should always worry when you break a repeat customers habits.

A lot of people probably sitting back realizing going to a game can be a pain in the butt when it means getting back to Birmingham or Huntsville at 1am or whatever for a night kickoff.

I only go to a couple games a year and I realize it's a lot more convenient to watch at home on a big screen HD tv...but there's no replacing the atmosphere of being there in the stadium. But it's not worth the hassle for the non-conference patsy games...which is probably why the scheduling is getting better. One patsy is fine...but those tickets should be $20 face value...gives an opportunity for large families, scouting groups, etc to attend a game. But more than one of those type games is a negative for season ticket holders.

Actually, suddenly it's better than ever. I sold my 4 Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Southern Miss tickets in March within a week of listing them, and all at premium prices. The Tennessee tickets were listed at $187 each. And they aren't great seats...U4-EE, row 26. The Southern Miss tickets went for $70 each. In a normal year, the USM tickets don't sell until maybe 2 weeks before game time, if I'm lucky, and maybe I get $100 total for the four.

A few reasons:

(1) The "stadiums seating capacity arms race" was plain silly and backfired. Metal bleachers suck, and plainly the experience of being in the stadium isn't nearly as good for 90% of the games as my 80" TV at home.

(2) Due to #1 and other factors, I generally lose my arse on tickets I sold when I had season tickets. On cupcake games, I'd generally have to give them away. For a down Ole Miss opponent or Arkansas at a late kick, I'd get 30-40 bucks. My seats were upper level, but row friggin' two.

(3) The cost of tickets is but a fraction of a cost of the whole experience. Unless you live in Bham I guess, there's about 100 miles of nothing until you see civilization on the way to Tuscaloosa. For us, it's a cool 3 hours and 15 minutes each way. That usually means for a night game, paying 300+ for a hotel in Tuscaloosa, or, risk driving buzzed to a hotel about 50 miles east. Couple that in with the tailgate, parking, etc... it's about $700 a gameday weekend. This is Tuscaloosa we're talking about...

(4) The games aren't good. Until we get an all Power-5 schedule, I wouldn't consider season tickets again.

I love the Tide, but nowadays it's just more trouble than it's worth.

Nothing better than a whole day of college football with the best games at noon, 3:30 and 7:30 with the Tide somewhere in between. However, there's about a million things just as fun to do here that aren't 6 1/2 hours in a car away.

To each their own, I guess. I'm in Tennessee 225 miles away. I go down and back...no hotel...and no booze, so I can drive. I spend maximum $100...and that's if I have to pay to park. Usually, I get there early enough to park for free on the street in the neighborhood behind the University Club.

But yeah, it makes for a long arse weekend.

I was offered tix to the Miami game in ATL. Tix were $125/300 level, $250/100 level. I’m on an alumni mailer not TP. I posted about this a few weeks ago because it was so odd these tix were available. I’m 4 hrs away from Ttown so I’ll go see a couple few game/year. Plain ans simple, going to games is expensive. You guys hear UGA is slashing food concession prices 50%?
