Happy birthday to Paul William “Bear” Bryant. Still the GOAT in my mind. CNS is a close second but Coach Bryant holds an advantage: he not only won 6 natties as the head coach of our beloved Bama, he also won one on the field as a player in the 1934 Rose Bowl vs Stanford. And he also served his country in WW II.
Here’s to having the insane luxury of debating which of our legends is the greatest. So toss back 3 fingers of your favorite Kentucky bourbon (conflicting stories that he preferred scotch, vodka, bourbon, or any damn thing available) and burn down a Chesterfield cigarette in honor of the baddest coach to ever walk the sidelines in Tuscaloosa. He was a Hall of Fame member of the Greatest Generation that ever lived.
And take a moment to remember the cowardly attack on our country 19 years ago today. America got sucker punched in New York and DC but regrouped and fought back at Shanksville, PA. frick you, Osama bin Laden. May you eternally burn in Hell.

I was working in Brooklyn NY that April and May. Have a few pictures of the towers in the Manhattan sky line as the sun was rising. Was about 200ft off the ground when I captured them on camera. No smart phones back then

It's also the day Ford released the Pinto for the first time in 1971.

Whatever the Pinto lacked in structural integrity they more than made up for in cool explosions once rear-ended.
Pinto customers had a slogan: "It's just cheaper to let them burn."
