Who cares? We all tell white lies or exagerates the truth...we all make mistakes and have our different ways of trying to better a situation. If UW is not working for him and being a little deceitful to get out of it..I'm not going to bash him for doing so.

Almost always when observers note that something doesn't quite add up at first or at face value, it's because they don't have all the info. I have no doubt this is the case here.

It’s just a case of confirmation bias. They expect to see something so they see it. Doesn’t matter if it’s true or not.

Where did he say he wanted to be closer to home. I've seen he wanted to be with family.

Kaho was in Seattle ealier in the summer but he couldn't enroll or participate in summer workouts because he was still taking one more HS course he needed to qualify. He went back home due to attend funerals of two family members and did not return to Seattle. His parents were also in the process of divorcing. He sought a release from his NLI due to the family stuff. Petersen and UW promptly granted the release. There are rumors about his dad asking other UW players' parents for money to help pay for divorce costs, which may or may not be true. None of the details of why he was released really matter. The bottom line is that he got the release from his UW NLI, and is coming to Bama.

Yea just saying that's what people are making a big deal over. If he and his folks are dishonest let's just hope that they were dishonest about him losing all that weight.

I've seen some posts on BOL saying the weight loss was exaggerated, but Idk for sure if those posters are truly in the know about that. BOL mods have said that there are some details involved that aren't likely to be reported anytime soon, maybe never. Maybe the Kaho camp did overstate the toll family matters have taken on him. Regardless, from UW's perspective, there's really no sense in denying his release request, since Kaho was formally saying via his request that he doesn't want to go to UW.

I've yet to hear that. I'm waiting to see a picture of the kid on campus or at practice.

I could see this guy practicing all year, trying to add weight and be able to play by the Auburn game and in the post season. Then he will still be a redshirt freshman next season.

He looks good. I imagine the heat and humidity will cause him to lose a few pounds until he gets accustomed to it. He looks much better than I thought he would. It's a good sign

Nick Saban details how freshman Ale Kaho ended up at Alabama (BamaOnLine)

quote:

A new former 5-star recruit made his Alabama debut on Saturday, as Ale Kaho practiced with the inside linebackers in pre-scrimmage drills at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The former 5-star linebacker from Reno, Nev., was released from his national letter of intent with Washington on Monday, and Kaho chose Alabama as his next landing spot Wednesday. The No. 1 inside linebacker in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports rankings, Kaho landed on campus Friday afternoon and was on the field for the Crimson Tide’s Saturday scrimmage.

Initially, the Huskies had edged Alabama to land Kaho as a 5-star recruit during the 2018 cycle, but he was not able to enroll. And according to head coach Nick Saban, the primary reason why the Tide was able to land Kaho now was due to academic issues at Washington.

“There are circumstances -- and I don’t know all the circumstances -- where a guy doesn’t get admitted to the school that he signed to go to, that he gets an opportunity to go somewhere else and he gets a release or he can choose to try to get eligible over time but not be able to enroll in school,” Saban said. “So, I think, as I understand it, he was unable to get into school for academic reasons because of their institutional policies, not because of NCAA rules.

“He could get into school at most other institutions. So, he had opportunities to go other places. He didn’t want to sit out and continue to take other classes so he could go to the school he signed at and we were one of the people that recruited him. It came down to the wire in terms of whether we got him or not. When he got his release, we let him know that he had an opportunity to come here. We’re glad to have him. We’ll think he’ll be a good player.”

The 6-foot-1, 218-pound prospect was a longtime BYU commit during the recruiting process before flipping his commitment to the Huskies just prior to the early signing period last December. He signed with Washington last year and arrived in Seattle this summer, but he never enrolled while wrapping up required coursework. Huskies head coach Chris Petersen cited “personal reasons” for the release of the program’s highest-rated incoming freshman.

The Crimson Tide was heavily involved in Kaho’s recruitment last year and were considered to have finished in a runner-up position. While committed to BYU, Kaho traveled to Tuscaloosa to camp with Alabama and promptly landed a scholarship offer from Saban. Kaho returned to town for an official visit to campus the weekend of Nov. 4 and saw UA earn a victory over LSU.

Wearing No. 10 on Saturday, Kaho’s journey ended in Tuscaloosa. He is immediately eligible to play, but the true freshman was the only active player not in full pads because of NCAA rules for acclimation. But just how long does Saban think it will take Kaho to get up to speed?

“I can’t answer that,” he said. “We’re going to do the best we can every day, aight. I don’t know how hard it’s going to be. It depends on how fast he learns, it depends on a lot of things -- what kind of condition is he in? How much can we do with him? Lot of questions, and they’re not bad questions. We’re glad to have the guy here and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to help him be successful as a person, as a student and as a player.

“But how long it’s going to take? I don't know. (Reaches for the Coke bottle on the podium). Wish this was a magic wand that I could just sort of (waves it). It’s not the Wizard of Oz.”

Mack Wilson sees potential in Alabama's newest 5-star linebacker (BOL | embedded video)

quote:

When Alabama’s most experienced inside linebacker finished a footwork drill prior to the Crimson Tide’s first scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday, he observed the team’s newest inside ‘backer as he participated in his first practice at the college level.

Former 5-star recruit Ale Kaho arrived at Alabama on Friday and joined his new teammates on the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first of two fall-camp scrimmages. He was not in full pads because of NCAA acclimation rules, but he was able to run in between dummies.

In his first glimpse of Kaho, junior linebacker Mack Wilson was impressed.

“I feel like he’s got potential to be a great player,” Wilson said. “I was just watching him as we were doing individual (drills), and he seemed to have high energy. He seemed to be happy. He said he was going through a lot, and we’re just trying to make him feel at home and just trying to take him in and show him how we do things at Alabama, what the brotherhood is all about.”

A native of Reno, Nev., Kaho was released from his national letter of intent with Washington on Monday of last week, and he chose Alabama as his next landing spot Wednesday. The No. 1 inside linebacker in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports rankings, Kaho ended up in Tuscaloosa after a brief stop in Seattle because of academic issues at Washington.

On Saturday, head coach Nick Saban explained Kaho’s journey to the Crimson Tide program.
