Laura Rutledge is on Finebaum right now and she was embedded with the team throughout the week leading up to the Clemson game. She claims that Jalen and Tua both received roughly equal snaps during practice and that Saban was more than willing to bring in Tua if he didn't feel like the offense was working the way it needed to be to win the game. She speculated that Tua would have come off the bench had the offense suffered three straight three and outs.

He might have made an appearance in the third quarter if not for the sudden change in fortune with the Payne and Wilson interceptions.

That actually sounds about right. I've said that 3rd quarter was the key. I was convinced we would see Tua in the game.

The only thing is then why didn't he come into the game when we were up 18 and the offense was sputtering?

Why show it when you don’t need it I guess would be the reasoning.

Yeah but didn't Jalen miss 2 days of practice because he was sick?

Kingpin tells me that Nick is starting early with his process to keep Tua from transferring. The last scheme with Surfer Boy didn't work so well so he is trying a different plan. We'll see. You do remember back 2013 when Derrick Henry was thinking about calling it a day but then Nick got him on the field vs OU for the Sugar Bowl.

I always heard that Kiffin got brought in to watch bowl practices. And he pretty much said why in the frick does this guy only play in garbage time?

Don't believe it but if true that tells me he knew Hurts can, will and has held back the offense. Just make the change Nick, we all know it needs to happen. Don't lose another championship because of poor quarterback play.
