Alabama Softball Shuts Out Arkansas, 2-0, Sunday to Clinch Weekend Road Series
With the weekend series on the line Sunday, No. 3 Alabama softball shut out eighth-ranked Arkansas, 2-0, behind a masterful performance from Montana Fouts in the circle.
Alabama (31-5, 11-4 SEC) needed just two runs to defeat Arkansas (33-5, 13-2 SEC) in Sunday's series rubber match as Montana Fouts (13-2) pitched a gem in the circle, throwing a complete game two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. Sunday was her ninth complete game of the season, her fifth shutout and her eighth game with 10 or more strikeouts, three of which have come in SEC play. Autumn Storms (6-1) took the loss in the circle for the Razorbacks, her first this season.

Fouts was not our number one earlier in the year but she has reaserted herself and it is clear she is number 1 and Lexi is a distant second.
Without one, you simply have to stay ahead of the hitters.

I hate the 5 losses, especially the 2 SEC losses. BUT, I have to keep reminding myself that the SEC is very strong this year and no team is going to go through the SEC schedule unscathed. There are several teams ahead of us in the national standings and I just don't know how we would do against them. The loss of Bailey Dowling for the season and the lack of production at third base (Morgan and Clark) has severely impacted our hitting. I really like the attitude and effort of Morgan and Clark but they just can't hit. I'm happy we have done as well as we have. ROLL Tide!
