Alabama reportedly denied Brandon Kennedy’s initial appeal to transfer to another SEC school.
On Monday, it was learned that the offensive lineman wants to join either Auburn or Tennessee as a grad transfer but his initial appeal had been denied, per AL.com’s Matt Zenitz. Kennedy reportedly is blocked from receiving contact with the Tigers or Volunteers. Kennedy also is prevented from having contact with any other SEC schools and other future Alabama opponent.
Kennedy must attend an in-person hearing with Alabama’s appeal board as his next course of action. Earlier in May, it was reported that Kennedy would transfer.

Transfer anywhere else in the country you want and good luck, but not there.
So, yes if he wants to go to anywhere in the SEC, that should be fine too, but I'd be down for a rule against our arch-rivals, if you've been in our program, you know too much.
I'm ok with this.

Not sure he could possibly know more than Pruitt.

I still hate Saban's decision on this.

In the real world there are non-compete agreements in place to keep people from taking the benefits (time, resources and money) bestowed upon them by one entity and used it/them against that entity...what's the difference here? Nobody's stopping them from using their acquired talents, just don't use them against your benefactor.
Bottomline: Don't bite the hand that fed you!

Totally agree.
But how about this for the bleeding hearts that want to let graduates go anywhere they want... they turn over their phone records for the past year and every call has to be identified and verified...any incoming calls from an employee of another university automatically disqualifies them from consideration...and the disqualified school(s) has/have to pay for the research

I don't think Brandon Kennedy is worth the negative pub this stuff brings.

If Pierschbacher goes down, he could be the starter. Given all the injuries last year...he could be worth a lot...center happens to be a VERY important role on the OL.

This is supposed to be amateur athletics played by college students. If they want to finally drop that charade, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
And if you claim you are in the profession to help the kids, then don't stop them from going where they feel is best for them. Especially a guy that has done everything that's been asked of him and has stayed long enough to get a degree. Putting a restriction on his transfer figuratively makes me sick.

Ideally, I agree. However tampering is a real thing. Allowing free & open transfers like this to rivals would open Pandora's Box.

It's still just college athletics.

Dude you just don’t get it
He exchanges his eligibility for an athletic scholarship. His amateur eligibility belongs to UA with certain conditions. Alabama has provided him with an education and development
Now that he had graduated he free to leave and go wherever he chooses. This isn’t some indentured servitude he can do whatever he wants. He can transfer within the SEC and play immediately only IF UA approves it. The SEC by-laws are clear about this.
No one is preventing him from playing football for 120 other Div1 s schools. The only restriction is playing in conference which is at the discretion of the incumbent school.

Why have the rule if it isn't going to be enforced? Once upon a time, didn't the grad transfer rule read that they were free to transfer out if their current school didn't have or offer the graduate program requested? I think he should be free to go to any D1 school he chooses as long as it isn't on the '18 schedule.
