From this week’s Byrne Notice:
Gymnastics Heads to NCAA Championships for the 37th Time
After winning our 10th SEC Championship last month, our gymnastics team posted another strong showing at the recent NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Championships, earning its 37th berth to the national championships final site. Our 37 appearances is the second-highest total in NCAA Championships history, only trailing Utah. During the regional weekend, Luisa Blanco posted the highest all-around total of any regional with a 39.800 while she and Makarri Doggette both scored perfect 10.0s in their specialties. Luisa would go on to be voted the Region 1 Gymnast of the Year, while our coaching staff was voted the Region 1 Head Coach and Assistant Coaches of the Year. The season comes to an end this weekend, with the NCAA Championships April 16-17 in Fort Worth, Texas. We start things off on Friday at 5 p.m. CT in Semifinal Session II at Dickies Arena, while the finals are Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. The Semifinals will be broadcast on ESPN2, while finals will be on ABC.

Anyone know the rotation for Alabama? I know they started on vault, what next?
Posted on 4/16/21 at 5:26 pm to hnds2th
Isn’t that a REALLY low score for Vault?
Posted on 4/16/21 at 5:28 pm to Blackfield
Yes, used to be a really strong event for us, hopefully the rotation favors us.

to win this thing Bama will need 198 which is 49.5 per rotation on average.
It will take that high of a score to beat OK.

They are bars next then beam and finish on floor, that’s good.

Yeah, watched a little. Just seems like we are just coming up a bit short. Hopefully, we can advance, but I am not holding my breath.

Yeah, not sure we can make up this deficit in remaining two events.

Girls got work to do. At the least we should have some girls compete for individual event wins.

All I can figure is we dumbed down the routines, cuz and beam and first few floor exercises I see very few mistakes. Maybe we were nervous and Dana thought we needed to make the routines easier? Cause our scores are bad for stuck landings, etc.

degree of difficulty factors into things

a half a point is not close in gymnastic scoring. But we finished third which is a great year compared to where this team started.

Nice strong finish and any day that we finish ahead of lswho, is a good day!
Also, this section was stacked. Our score gets us in the final in the first section.
