Tough draw for Bama in the evening session. Even though they had the 4th highest score of the day, with the new format, Bama won’t advance. Still, this season exceeded my expectations - SEC Champs and two individual National Champions. Hopefully Bama can build on it next year. Roll Tide!
Alabama Gymnastics' Season Ends at NCAAs, Graber and Blanco Win Individual National Championships
Alabama finished third in the evening session of the NCAA semi-finals and will not advance to Saturday's national championship
The Crimson Tide was .025 away from securing a spot in the championship finals.

Four Alabama Gymnasts Bring Home Eight Championship All-America Honors
In addition to winning two individual NCAA Championships and finishing fifth in the nation this season, the Alabama gymnastics team saw four student-athletes earn eight Championship All-America honors over the weekend.
Luisa Blanco, Makarri Doggette, Lexi Graber and Shallon Olsen all earned the accolades which are based on individual finishes in Friday's semifinal sessions, with first-team honors going to gymnasts who finish in the top four of their semifinal, and second team recognition going to those who finish in the second four.
In all, 78 Alabama gymnasts have combined to earn 391 All-America honors. That total includes Championship All-America honors as well as Regular Season All-America recognition, which began in 2013.

Bama would have had to score around 198 to win it all and our season average was around 197.5. I am guessing at the season average.

Once again, at the end of the year, Alabama scores higher than any other SEC team.

HUGE NEWS
2021 Floor Excercise Champions, Lexi Graber, will return for a 5th year.
This will be a COVID year and not count towards the Tide's scholarship count.
Meaning Alabama loses only ONE routine (other senior Alonza Klopfner) from their 5th place finish this year.
2022 will also see a return of Ella Burgess, Luisa Blanco's freshman classmate who was breaking out big alongside her before a year ending injury in the pre-season.

Alabama’s Luisa Blanco Named Finalist for Honda Award for Gymnastics
Alabama's Luisa Blanco was voted one of four finalists for the Honda Award for Gymnastics, Chris Voelz, the executive director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced Thursday. The other three finalists include Lynnzee Brown (Denver), Lexy Ramler (Minnesota) and Anastasia Webb (Oklahoma).
The Honda Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 45 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies "the best of the best in collegiate athletics."
The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2021 Honda Cup which will be presented on June 28th, at 8 p.m. CT.
The finalists were selected by a panel of coaches and experts from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA). The Honda Award winner for Gymnastics will be announced after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.
A sophomore from Dallas, Texas, Blanco is the 2021 NCAA Balance Beam Champion and the NCAA All-Around Runner-Up. The 2021 Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Year, she led the Crimson Tide to its 10th SEC team title. She won five individual SEC titles in 2021, including the all-around, and owns the second highest all-around average in the nation and the highest in the Southeastern Conference.

Dana Duckworth confirmed Bill's departure on her Insta, team held a going away party and everything.
Contrary to gymternet rumors that he's going to Clemson, it looks like he's gotten a tech or IT job of some sort.
In any event, it looks like the coaching search is up and running.
Obviously we have 2 alumni surging as assistant right now to call home.
Geralen Stack-Eaton under Jenny Hansen has Minnesota surging higher than they've ever been in program history, right with us in the semifinals. The catch here she's married to UM's other assitant Rich Stenger. Which makes them likely a package deal and our volunteer positions are all filled.... also, as a huge chunk of Hansen's staff, the Gopher's might fight us to keep them.
Ashley Priess. Priess has helped Graba at the Tigers advance to nationals all but the last two years (both derailed by covid) and their 2nd win EVER against Alabama since the Reagan administration. The catch. From 2018-19 Auburn brought in recently laid off Alabama coach Bryan Raschilla. In addition to being on the plains and investing in Auburn for 4 years now, she's been sharing an office for a long time with someone who probably didn't sing Duckworth's praises. No telling what her opinions are of coming home to our staff.
