The Crimson Tide is 4-0 on the season while the Bulldogs are 1-3, with both squads coming off a bye week.

No. 6 Alabama Gymnastics Travels to No. 13 for Friday Showdown

The No. 6 ranked Alabama gymnastics team faces off against No. 13 Georgia on the road in Stegeman Coliseum Friday at 5 p.m. CT. The meet will kickoff a triple header on the SEC Network with Alicia Sacramone-Quinn and John Roethlisberger calling the action.

Both teams are coming off a bye week and are in the midst of an eight-meet, Southeastern Conference only regular season. The Tide is 4-0 heading into the meet, having last competed on Jan. 29 on the road with a win against Kentucky (196.775-196.400). The Bulldogs are 1-3 on the season, falling to Arkansas (196.875-195.950) in their last meet on January 29th.

About to lose. One rotation left and down 3/10ths of a point.
We have beam and they have the floor.

Typical solid but not inspiring Dana team again this year.

Not really sure what to do with this program. We’re continuously treading in the group just below title contenders.

Having to count a 9.650 on the floor exercise because of a 9.025 is a killer. One bright spot is the 197 overall - I think our highest score of the season. Sure wish all the ladies could put it together on the same night.

Luisa Blanco uses career-best scores to win the all-around and the balance beam, while Lexi Graber won the floor exercise

No. 6 Alabama Gymnastics Posts Season-Best Score in Loss at No. 13 Georgia, 197.275-197.000

We’ve got LSU at Coleman Coliseum next Friday (Feb. 19) at 7:30 pm CT

LSU and UF had been the best programs in the past few years. Who knows how this will turn out?

Gymnastics is weird. Seems like the home team always wins

UF and LSU both had major investments by the school into the programs right before their climbs and the recruits came to the fancy new and shiny.

Rhonda Faehn had been with Florida since 2003 before seeing any real success by 2007 after the success of Football and Bball had seem a massive increase in booster money to do whatever with. LSU built a state of the art gym facility for D-D Breaux, who'd been coaching the Tigers for like 30 years and made a Super Six... once. All of the sudden the elite gymnasts began committing.

Alabama Gymnastics can point to what Basketball fans have been clamoring for years now.... Coleman Coliseum is a aging airplane hangar and the practice facilities inside it are dull boxes from the 1990s.

Alabama basketball has similar non-game facilities to those 2, though, with our practice facilities (which are top notch). LSU and Florida gym still compete in meets at the PMAC and the O'Connell Center, which are fine but not anything special (UF's was renovated but it's still not some fancy new arena).

I don't know about our gymnastics program but I'd assume they don't have a new practice facility? Seems like something we probably need to add to the wish list.

They get to show off the new Sports Science Center, but other program upgrades for them are in another phase of the Crimson Standard.

scores of 197.50 and above will be needed to win the SEC. Will not probably a 198.00 or above to win it all. I am not sure about UCLA and their program right now due to their incompetent gov.

Yes - one of the points made during yesterday’s press conference was about the Friday night meet with LSU. LSU’s season average is higher than Bama’s single highest score.

One of LSU's senior gymnasts is the daughter of a former Alabama player under Stallings.

From the Crimson and White:

SEC gymnastics is certain to see a rankings switch-up after this meet

In their only loss this year (against Florida) LSU scored a 198.050

And I guess I wasn’t paying attention in August when this announcement was made:

D-D Breaux Retires After Forty-Three Seasons

Found it - Reagan Campbell. Interestingly, LSU doesn’t mention that tidbit in her bio.

She said her entire family went to Alabama — her father Mike played cornerback there from 1988-92 — and she figured she would go to Alabama also.

All American on the beam last year. She definitely came from a whole family of Bama fans and grads.

As good as LSU is this year, father and daughter might both have NC rings at the end of this season.

The Crimson Tide’s breast cancer awareness initiative was started by legendary Alabama gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson
