I think that in modern college sports media (and I use that term lightly) the best way to draw attention to yourself is to put Alabama on upset alert. Barrett Sallee has used the formula to somehow get a job at CBS. Last I heard, King is coming off an ACL injury in their bowl game. Their defense also got shredded by Oklahoma State and North Carolina. UNC had over 500 yards rushing on them. Not a misprint. 500 yards.

Meh. This will be a game King wants to forget.
Think the Michigan 2012 opener.

Here is the most delusional thing I have seen today. Anthony Treash is listed as a "Senior College analyst" for Pro Football Focus". I have seen this kid play and he is a fine athlete. But he is excitable and then becomes a turnover machine.
Personally I hope the players constantly hear that they are on upset watch

1st games see crazy things happen. A one point win will be fine.

I like D'Eriq King and if he is healthy Miami goes as he goes. I think he is a poor man's Russell Wilson, can extend plays and run for first downs or big yards depending on how the play breaks down. With that being said he isn't elusive in the sense of avoiding sacks. He was sacked a good bit last year and if Bama's pass rush is what we expect it to be this season, they better improve on the offensive line drastically to keep him upright. Honestly if King is not 100%, Garcia is good and may be their better bet.

Miami has talent on their roster but they don't have depth. Though they must not be underestimated as they have two Top 10 classes in the last four years.

With numerous home-and-home scheduling agreements about to kick in, Alabama will likely play its final neutral-site opener for a long time when it takes on Miami in Atlanta.

I remember exactly where I was when we opened with Clemson in 08. Half way thru the game I knew Saban was creating a monster. I will never forget that feeling.

A little off topic but Creg Stephenson wrote an interesting piece on al.com about Kenny Stabler's old football camps he hosted at Marion Institute. Finebaum, then 24 wrote an article in 1980 that "launched his career" but effectively killed the Ken Stabler Football Camp. Created some bad blood for years.
