Stephen M. Smith is an idiot. I can't believe that he's allowed near our program.

We’re going to have a pretty good team this year.

Yeah if Golding can’t put a stout defense on the field with this talent he never will.

If this is true then we would be wise to sign a mega deal with someone else. If Nike won’t negotiate then we should take our business elsewhere.

Seems incredibly foolish on Nike's part

need one of the Eternities on here to chime in with a legal opinion... with the shortfall in revenues from last season, Ath Dept needs to maximize every other stream they can... seems they could pay damages to niche and pull more $ from a new deal

Sounds like the Nike lawyers feel good about their position.

Not necessarily. We have no idea what the contract terms are, but Alabama could be on the hook for Nike's direct damages, and also other types of damages, like indirect, consequential, etc. Those "other types of damages" could include lost profits. An intentional breach could be very costly depending on the terms of the agreement.
ETA: I bet the Nike lawyers feel good about their position. I'm sure there's not a provision for "our AD underestimated the value of the Alabama brand and made a terrible deal." I think Alabama was hoping that Nike would renegotiate in good faith now to ensure the relationship stays on good terms. However, it appears that Nike would rather hold Bama to a bad contract and risk losing them as a client once the contract expires.

McClellan might be the best RB in the group. If he can pass block I expect he will play a lot.
Reminds me a little of Shaud Williams with that #21 jersey.
It's so hard to rank that group right now. I don't think there is a single guy who is clear cut top 3 other than Robinson just based on his experience.

It's kind of amazing just how much damage Bill Battle did in his short time as AD. We're essentially missing out on $20 million per year. That's enough to pay our entire coaching staff.
As much as I'm partial to Nike, we should get out of that contract any way we can, and open up a bidding war. Maybe Nike will come running back to the table with a real contract.

Isn’t this a little petty by Nike? So they have us locked in for 4-5 more seasons, but if they piss our AD off they can for sure lose us after that. Why not work on a moderate increase now to keep Bama once the contract dies? Seems very short sighted from such a business giant that should know better.
