Well I don't know if this has been mentioned or is known, but daughter got an email from Bama that says everybody is going to be tested when they return in the fall (faculty, staff, students, everybody) and masks will be required on campus. They also have to take a short online course before they start classes about wellness. There will also be random sentinel testing.

This is certainly a legitimate chart, but to me it makes more sense to adjust for population.

In order to keep people 6 feet apart the tents would need to take up tens of thousands of square feet.

It sounds like dining might be a grab and go situation. No indoor dining. So setting up multiple locations around campus.

I want to go to my parents' this weekend at lake martin, but my mom started chemo a couple of weeks ago, and I am scared to death of me being asymptomatic and giving it to her. Probably shouldn't go, right?

Yeah, don't go see your mom without a negative test. It sucks, but it's safer for her.

And this morning, Bay County, Florida (PC, PCB) reported out of 60 available ICU beds, ZERO are empty. Don't come here and get sick, folks! Nowhere to go!

A study by Yale that suggests that COVID deaths are being UNDER-counted.

Which one, the second one?

To me that website is a mess, but you can go here and scroll down to see/copy the individual charts.

The image for that chart in particular is here.

Not sure how quick and easy tests are near you but can you get a last minute test + results and make sure you're very careful between the test and visit?

Otherwise, I personally wouldn't risk it.

I'm trying to plan out a somewhat similar way to get tested with quick results after I arrive in Pensacola so I can just avoid anything risky for a day and then go to stay with my 79yo mom for a few days.

IF you can find a place to test, most of the drive-up testing spots here in the panhandle will get your results back to you in 15-20 minutes. That's how mine was a couple of weeks back. They did a finger stick to check for antibodies, and a nasal swab for active infection. The problem is the testing sites are overwhelmed so most are making you make an appt. several days out to reserve your spot in line. Pensacola may be better because I understand they have more testing sites. If you go to a doctor/clinic, I think most of those (down here at least) are sending off the tests and won't get your results for several days.

Thanks for the information.

I didn't even think about the testing sites there being overrun.

I'm worried the most likely way I'd bring it to my mother would be catching traveling there so was thinking to stay with my brother for a day or two and then get tested.

I was planning to go in late July but with the issues in Florida will push that back until, at least, later August. Really hope it's dying down in Florida by then.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I have faith that she will be fine in the long run.

I got a test after work at Trustcare. Probably am not going to get the results back before Friday but maybe I will get it early Friday.

I’d kinda self isolate until you get the results, just to be careful. I’d hate for you to be exposed to it before you find out. I really pray for the best with your mom. Breaks my heart that people have to go through this.

Yeah, I’m so freakin tired of plans being altered for this damn plague. It hasn’t disrupted my own life terribly but the entire class of 2020 has had their senior year of high school and the beginning of their college freshman year blown all to hell. People can’t visit their loved ones in hospitals and nursing homes. It just really sucks for all affected.

You just can’t fix stupid....

Just watch UA cancel school!

Students in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 have been attending parties in the city and surrounding area as part of a disturbing contest to see who can catch the virus first, a city council member told ABC News on Wednesday.

Tuscaloosa City Councilor Sonya McKinstry said students have been organizing "COVID parties" as a game to intentionally infect each other

I know it doesn't specifically say UofA students but you know they are probably the main ones. This is why I have such a difficult time explaining to my coworkers that move here (Huntsville) from out of state that UA is a great school. All they see is article after article on how stupid some of our students can be and when it comes time for their children to go to school, guess where they end up going? That's right, anywhere but Tuscaloosa

Quite sure UA students are not the only ones that don’t take it serious across the US
