A good chunk of these death in every state (except for places like NY somehow) are from nursing homes. If it’s finally being contained there, that could explain it.
New York doesn't link a death of a nursing-home patient to the nursing home if the patient died elsewhere, such as a hospital -- even if the patient contracted the disease in the nursing home. That's why only 13% (or whatever the figure is now) of deaths in New York are listed as "nursing home."
I believe the actual total number of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. is heavily skewed toward nursing home residents -- more than half, if memory serves.

It’s been between 40-70 with most falling in the 40 -50 percent range which is not that high to me

Good find! It appears existing statin drugs might be able to help save a lot of lives, especially if statin therapy makes a significant impact soon after someone begins takin it.

Another plausible theory on COVID19
Very interesting
quote:
“If you start to put all of the data together that’s emerging, it turns out that this virus is probably a vasculotropic virus, meaning that it affects the [blood vessels],” says Mandeep Mehra, MD, medical director of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Heart and Vascular Center.
In a paper published in April in the scientific journal The Lancet, Mehra and a team of scientists discovered that the SARS-CoV-2 virus can infect the endothelial cells that line the inside of blood vessels. Endothelial cells protect the cardiovascular system, and they release proteins that influence everything from blood clotting to the immune response. In the paper, the scientists showed damage to endothelial cells in the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, and intestines in people with Covid-19.
“The concept that’s emerging is that this is not a respiratory illness alone, this is a respiratory illness to start with, but it is actually a vascular illness that kills people through its involvement of the vasculature,” says Mehra.
The good news is that if Covid-19 is a vascular disease, there are existing drugs that can help protect against endothelial cell damage. In another New England Journal of Medicine paper that looked at nearly 9,000 people with Covid-19, Mehra showed that the use of statins and ACE inhibitors were linked to higher rates of survival. Statins reduce the risk of heart attacks not only by lowering cholesterol or preventing plaque, they also stabilize existing plaque, meaning they’re less likely to rupture if someone is on the drugs.

So if you have high cholesterol and are on a statin drug, your chances of survival might be better.

The virus probably wont change much by the end of the year, but why not just take it a few months at a time and try to determine if its doing any good.

BOOM! Thanks, Bear.
At least 5 Bama football players have tested positive since returning to campus.
And personally, I just found out today that a co-worker got a positive test, a negative antibody test, and is now getting another test to confirm. He's asymptomatic but I may have been exposed to the WuFlu too.
Personal opinion only, but I'm starting to believe the theory that the virus has morphed into a more contagious, but less virulent disease. I'm hearing and seeing too many people getting positive results that didn't even know they had it. That's encouraging, but also a little eerie and unnerving. If you know anything about the 1918 pandemic, the Spanish flu struck a blow in the early months of 1918 but was not much worse than a normal flu in terms of mortality. It waned in the summer months only to re-emerge in August as a worldwide killer. October was the deadliest month. Let's hope the WuFlu doesn't follow the same pattern.

Like someone said earlier , a positive player could wipe out an entire position group on a team . Going to be interesting what the NCAA does . Hope all these young men are ok and I guess if they HAVE to catch it, it is better now than the season

And Bama is out in front of this by reporting it. You know good and well we aren't the only SEC school with positives. I'd rather report it now, let them sit for 14 days now and get them back for summer and fall practice. But really, Saban and Bama being very proactive with this.

Ole Miss has one I think . It was in our local paper

Lowest 3-day average new case figure in over a month.
I think the spike last week had to have been from blanket testing of certain specific facilities (prisons, workplaces, etc.) picking up a bunch of asymptomatic cases.

You’re going to get a kick out of this one.
A friend of mine’s wife tested positive on May 18th. Never had any bad symptoms, just a mild fever and aches. Been fine for a while and has now tested negative.
Today she gets a letter from the Alabama Department of Public Health informing her that she is “hereby ordered to quarantine in your home until June 3rd, 2020.”
They’re right on top of things folks.

In a week where headlines mostly avoided COVID-19, Alabama added nearly 2,500 cases of the virus - the second highest weekly total since the start of the pandemic. But deaths due to the virus seem to be flattening out, and new hospitalizations reached a new low this week.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, the state confirmed 2,485 new cases of the virus between Saturday, May 30 and Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. ADPH announced this week that it would begin reporting results only once a day, at 10 a.m., due to “a large increase in volume” of the number of tests being conducted.

I saw a report on twitter that the virus is starting to become weaker....whatever that means.
If people are gonna protest and be around people we should go ahead and open everything back up 100%
