Great pick up. Not sure how up to date this site it on ranking recruiting classes, but Alabama is 16th, which is 9th best in the SEC.

Highlights of Myles.

It’s still dead last in the SEC West and behind Fla International and Ga Tech per that ranking system. It would be the 3rd ranked class in the East. I hope Bo can coach ‘em up. We need to make some progress this next year.

It’s nice to see a lot of recruits turning down the minors to play here as opposed to turning down Montevallo and Troy to play here.

You're exactly right. They aren't ready for the NFL out of High School and the NFL knows it. Not being physically or mentally ready is a sure fire way to get injured, sometimes severe. That's a liability that the NFL doesn't want. College football is basically a free minor leagues for the NFL.

Bingo. It's the #1 reason why a kid chooses to play for Alabama over Auburn, or Clemson vs. South Carolina. They want to put themselves in the best position to realize their professional dream; just like we do when we select what college to go to.

If everyone would see college football for what it is right now, I think we'd all be a good bit more satisfied. College football fans get elite talent for pennies on the dollar.

I promise, Tua will never hate Auburn as much as Billy Joe Shelton from Leeds. He's at Alabama to take in the prep. Will he leave with an affinity to the University? I'm sure he will. But what gets out of hand is people thinking that we get 5 star athletes to come live in the tropical football oasis of Tuscaloosa.

Prospects generally grow up having favorite NFL teams. That's why when they get drafted, they say it's a "dream come true."

I doubt NFL teams would take kids out of HS, because the physicality needed just isn't there. But if you are say, Julio Jones, you should have that option.

Am I correct that the scarcity of Juniors on that list was Goff's lone year? Holy hell, that guy was a wrecking machine!

Crimson Tide Baseball Summer League Update: July 26

quote:

Brett Auerbach - C/INF

Auerbach has put together a solid summer in the Cape. The rising senior leads the Whitecaps in runs (18), walks (13) and stolen bases (10) while tying for second in hits (32). He has added a pair of doubles and home runs to go with eight RBI. Auerbach's play earned him a spot as a Cape Cod League All-Star. He went on to win the game's co-Most Valuable Player thanks to his walkoff single to clinch the win for the East team

quote:

Tyler Gentry - OF

Gentry has carried his sophomore success over into the summer season. Also with the Whitecaps, he leads Brewster in doubles (10) and is second in RBI (20) in addition to 32 hits, tying him with Auerbach for second on the team. Gentry has also contributed three triples, a home run and three stolen bases across his 35 games played.

quote:

Justin King - OF/INF

King has continued to perform well this summer for the Willmar Stingers. He leads the team in home runs (5) while tying for first in RBI (25). King has also recorded 23 walks, good for second on the Stingers, and added nine doubles to tie for second in that category.

quote:

Chase Lee - RHP

Lee's effort on the mound has helped propel Bethesda to the Cal Ripken League playoffs with a league-best 30-7 mark. The right-hander owns a team-low 1.08 ERA (3 ER/25.0 IP) and has tallied a team-best seven saves across his 15 appearances. Lee has also punched out 48 compared to only six walks, with his 48 strikeouts leading all league arms.

quote:

Jacob McNairy - RHP

With the month of August on the horizon, McNairy continues to post impressive numbers in Alaska. The Mat-Su reliever leads the Miners in ERA (1.37) and saves (7) with his save total ranking second in the Alaska League. McNairy is also tied for the team lead in appearances with 15, during which he has accumulated 19.2 innings of work, striking out 17 compared to only two walks in his time on the hill.

quote:

Garret Rukes - LHP

Rukes has made the most of his summer in Willmar, tying for second on the team in wins (5) and ranking third in strikeouts (33) to highlight his impressive performance thus far. He has made eight starts on the mound and totaled 46.0 innings over that time to post a 3.91 ERA (20 ER).

Big get for Bohannon.

quote:

Alabama baseball added a big commitment from 2021 LHP Brandon Clarke on Sunday as the Ashburn (Va.) Independence standout chose the Crimson Tide over Tennessee, Kentucky, N.C. State, Duke, East Carolina, and others.

“We went down there and went around campus and were able to see every aspect of it,” Clarke told BOL. “It was just beautiful. I loved every part of it. Just the scenery, obviously the facilities are really awesome, coaches are unbelievable, I love Coach Bo, Coach Jackson, Coach Reida, they’ve done a great job of talking to me and being able to build a relationship with them. Those are the big reasons why I chose Alabama.”
A rising junior, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound junior gave insight into his decision timeline, and why he chose to get his commitment out of the way.

“We actually finished our last visit this past Wednesday, I went to Tennessee,” he said. “I was trying to make a decision sooner rather than later. With the options that I had, I was able to see basically every single school that had given me an offer. I was like, ok I’ve seen every school I’ve wanted to, let me pick the one I like best, the coaches that fit me the best, and obviously be able to compete in the best conference in college baseball and hopefully compete for a national championship in a few years.”

Clarke has ties to Bohannon though one of his current coaches. It was that, plus other factors that have left the biggest impression on the rising prospect.

“So really the huge thing … actually, my pitching coach here in Virginia played for Coach Bohannon at Kentucky and really set me up with him and was able to just build a great relationship with him. Honestly, when I’m picking out a school, the most important part is the coaches. I’ve found that I love each and every one of the coaches at Alabama. Coach Jackson is a great pitching coach and Coach Bohannon is also a great head coach as well. The campus was second to none when I went there. It was really awesome to be able to get on there and just enjoy my time with them.”

Is that after pro defections have been accounted for? Because that is ultimately what matters.

It's hard to fathom how bad the talent level was in Bo's first year compared to the rest of the league.

We were at middle-tier Conference USA level.
