Well me and my buddy will be at the game tomorrow. I hope UA can learn from what Ole Miss has done and help get our baseball team up.

What kind of improvement from last year's squad are y'all expecting this year?

I think we should be improved across the board. The pitching staff should be much deeper and a lot of young arms who were freshmen last season have a year under their belt now. We should be improved at the plate as well, Dugas is a big loss obviously, but we brought in a very talented class to mix in with some returning players that performed well (Booth, Moore) despite the horrific season last year. We went 9-21 last year, I'd hope for at least a 4-5 game uptick this year, especially with the schedule we have avoiding some of the great teams in the East.

Yeah looking through the schedule and it's not impossible to think this team could win 15-17 games. If we finish above .500 and the crowds start coming back to the ballpark, I'd be happy.

Baseball is a weird sport, so who knows.

What are your thoughts on Gaspard? Right guy? Or is winning big at Bama not feasible due to lack of interest/support (from the AD)?

I think Gaspard is just fine. He knows the program and the challenges we're faced with. He also knows how to win here while dealing with those challenges, he was the top assistant in our prime in the 90s and had us one win from Omaha a couple years ago. He's also proven he can recruit at a high level.

That said, it's impossible to 'win big' at Alabama baseball right now. Forget the shite facilities and the fact the athletic department wants to upgrade everything on campus besides the baseball facilities, they don't support the program at all. The official athletic website gives virtually no news, aside from game recaps probably written by students. Without support from the athletic department pushing the program to the public, there will never be consistent fan support unless there's a consistent winner on the field. They go hand in hand. A new park, pocket change for the administration, would do wonders for both. There's no advertisement for the program, and the fact that you can only hear every baseball game on the radio in Tuscaloosa is a travesty. Fans aren't just going to suddenly start showing up, but the administration seems just fine with that for whatever reason.

Saw that UA is selling tickets for $2 Tuesday at the gate for tonight's matchup against Southern Miss so maybe that'll bring the crowd in.

I've always enjoyed going to Bama and FSU baseball games and have never understood why the crowds don't get into them more. Never understood why more games aren't televised either.

Strong outing by Guilbeau, I still think he'll be our Friday night guy by the time SEC play comes.

Up 10-5 going into the 9th. I am trying to keep up a little this year.

Is Southern Miss any good? It says they are ranked on the thing I got the gametracker off of, so I assume they are.

They swept mizzou last week. I saw they were ranked preseason. So I'm hoping they are descent an this might mean we are too.

I usually keep up with it through rolltide.com scoreboard tracker

They swept Missouri and are ranked 21 by Baseball America. They have a solid program.

Best way to follow online is d1baseball.com, or just go to the schedule on the school's website and there will be a link to the Gametracker

Looks like we won 10-8.

Is our bullpen hot garbage? They scored 1 run through 6 and then 7 runs in the last 3 innings.

We gave up 7 runs in the last three innings and won 10-8. We had a hard time closing out games last year.
